About The Position

First Merchants Bank is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to join our team! This position will design, build, orchestrate, automate, and maintain Cloud IaaS and PaaS with a focus on AWS and Microsoft Azure. Responsible for the technical design, configuration, and maintenance of Microsoft Office 365 platform. Work with System Infrastructure team on AD infrastructure and design, including any automation technologies. Collaborate with other departments to determine their Cloud needs and work with Cyber to deploy a redundant and secure cloud environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED).
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and Microsoft Azure.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or related major
  • AWS and Azure Certification
  • Experience working with CI/CD or Infrastructure as code tools

Responsibilities

  • Design, orchestrate, implement, and support secure and scalable infrastructure using public cloud, IaaS, and PaaS using cloud and security best practices.
  • Design and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and utilize Configuration Management tools.
  • Design and implement automation systems to ensure consistent, repeatable deployments.
  • Configure and administer Microsoft Office 365 platform and applications including Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Exchange Online.
  • Be responsible for developing, implementing, and enforcing architecture, governance, operating procedures, monitoring, and system standards; creating and maintaining accurate technical documentation.
  • Be responsible for designing, implementation of, and execution of patching for cloud based systems.
  • Collaborate and work with System Infrastructure, Network Infrastructure, Cyber, Endpoint, and Dev groups on future projects, including design of future deployments.
  • Conduct research on emerging cloud technologies in support of infrastructure architecture plans and recommend technologies that will increase cost-effectiveness and infrastructure flexibility.
  • Ensure efficient functioning of data storage and process functions in accordance with company security policies and best practices in cloud security.
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve infrastructure deployment issues.
  • Regularly review existing systems and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Troubleshoot incidents, identify root cause, fix and document problems, and implement preventive measures.
  • Implement cloud monitoring solutions and alarms.
  • Participate in projects, planning, and assisting other teams in implementation and troubleshooting efforts.
  • Complete periodic attestation, control, and performances procedures.
  • Mentor other Cloud Engineers.
  • As needed, participate in after-hours maintenance windows to update, change, and install various systems.
