About The Position

NetCov is hiring a Senior Cloud Engineer to design, build, deploy, operate, and support secure, scalable cloud and hybrid infrastructure for clients and internal teams. The role requires understanding both system architecture and the engineering detail needed to maintain consistent uptime and resolve escalated, business-impacting issues. The engineer will work with AWS and Microsoft Azure, lead cloud automation and DevOps improvements, support migrations, and provide senior-level troubleshooting and incident response. The Senior Cloud Engineer is expected to take broad ownership of technical delivery: understand project goals before work begins, peer review designs and deliverables, identify patterns across client networks and alerts, anticipate technical risks, and make sound architectural decisions. Solutions should be secure, cost-conscious, resilient, and supportable after project completion. The role also includes mentoring engineers, improving team processes, collaborating across technical and delivery groups, and communicating effectively with clients. This is a full-time, exempt position. Travel may be required depending on company needs, including client on-site support or team meetings.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Technology or IT Engineering, or equivalent level of work experience and certifications.
  • 10 or more years of engineering experience.
  • At least 6 years of hands-on AWS or Microsoft Azure engineering experience, with deep expertise in both platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently design, deliver, troubleshoot, and support complex cloud and hybrid infrastructure solutions.
  • Strong working knowledge of Windows Server and/or Linux, Active Directory/Entra ID, IAM/RBAC, DNS, cloud networking, and hybrid connectivity.
  • Advanced proficiency in multiple cloud infrastructure domains, such as compute, networking, identity, storage, security, monitoring, and disaster recovery.
  • Hands-on experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform or equivalent), Git, scripting with Python or PowerShell, and deployment automation.
  • Experience with cloud monitoring, security controls, backup and disaster recovery, and cloud cost and performance optimization in production environments.
  • Ability to correlate client incidents, telemetry, and alert data to identify root causes and recurring patterns.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage concurrent technical deliverables, dependencies, deadlines, and documented processes.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to communicate with technical and non-technical clients and internal team members.

Nice To Haves

  • Docker and Kubernetes experience.
  • AWS Solutions Architect Associate or Professional certification, Azure Administrator (AZ-104), Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305), or equivalent certification.

Responsibilities

  • Build, configure, and deploy secure, scalable cloud infrastructure in Microsoft Azure and AWS.
  • Codify security baselines and guardrails using Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code tools.
  • Drive infrastructure automation and DevOps improvements, including standards for reusable modules, version control, code reviews, and secure deployments.
  • Lead migrations from on-premises or hosted environments to AWS or Azure, assessing dependencies, cutover sequencing, rollback plans, and hybrid integration requirements.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning, deployment validation, testing, and configuration management.
  • Continuously improve CI/CD pipelines for efficiency, reliability, and security.
  • Use Terraform, Python, PowerShell, and other automation tools to provision, manage, and optimize infrastructure.
  • Design and troubleshoot AWS and Azure networking and hybrid connectivity, including VPCs/VNets, VPNs, routing, DNS, firewalls, and private connections.
  • Implement cloud governance and access controls, including account and subscription structures, AWS IAM, Microsoft Entra ID, RBAC, and least-privilege permissions.
  • Analyze cloud spending, utilization, and performance, and recommend rightsizing, capacity improvements, and cost optimization.
  • Improve the stability, resiliency, and security of client and internal cloud environments.
  • Harden cloud workloads, operating systems, networks, identities, and storage using security baselines and applicable compliance requirements.
  • Design, implement, and test backup, high-availability, and disaster-recovery solutions against defined RTO and RPO objectives.
  • Follow change-control processes, assess implementation risks, and define validation and rollback plans for production changes.
  • Develop technical implementation plans, engineering task breakdowns, effort estimates, dependencies, and risk assessments in coordination with PMO.
  • Peer review technical designs and deliverables and recommend standard operating procedures for approval through the Cloud leadership process.
  • Own technical execution of assigned projects, communicate progress and blockers, and promptly escalate delivery risks or potential scope changes to PMO and Cloud leadership.
  • Provide expert technical assistance to internal teams and clients, including configuration, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and issue resolution across infrastructure, systems, and applications.
  • Troubleshoot and upgrade Azure and AWS environments in support of implementation and migration projects.
  • Participate in technical discovery, solution scoping, and migration readiness reviews to validate requirements and dependencies.
  • Complete technical validation, as-built documentation, monitoring, knowledge transfer, and handoff to support teams before project closeout.
  • Serve as a senior escalation resource for complex AWS, Azure, and hybrid incidents; conduct root-cause analysis and drive corrective actions.
  • Improve proactive monitoring, alerting, logging, availability, capacity, and performance to reduce recurring incidents.
  • Maintain engineering task updates, time entries, change records, and support documentation in designated company systems.
  • Mentor junior and peer engineers on new or complex technologies, and review escalation requests to guide resolution.
  • Lead Cloud team process-improvement initiatives using recurring issues and alert patterns to standardize solutions and reduce repeat incidents.
  • Deliver strong customer service and build relationships with clients and internal teams.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Partner with Security, Networking, Infrastructure, Service Delivery, and PMO to coordinate technical execution and deliver supportable client solutions.
  • Document technical processes, configurations, root-cause analyses, and project details for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Contribute to knowledge bases and internal training resources.
  • Stay current with cloud technologies, security practices, and industry trends; pursue certifications and professional development, and share knowledge with peers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Benefits

  • Competitive base salary plus performance-based incentives and commissions.
  • Continuous training, career development, and opportunities for advancement.
  • Collaborative culture and work with a team of professionals solving complex challenges.
