About The Position

Creative Artists Agency (CAA) is seeking a Senior Cloud Architect to define and own the vision, strategy, and design of cloud infrastructure supporting its global platforms and applications. The role is Microsoft Azure–first, with secondary responsibility for AWS. The architect will own cloud reference architectures, establish Terraform infrastructure-as-code standards, shape CI/CD and automation strategy, and set standards for reliability, security, and cost efficiency. As a technical leader across the organization, this person will guide engineering teams, mentor engineers, and advance FinOps practices by governing cloud spend and driving savings initiatives. The role includes deploying and scaling Kubernetes workloads, providing architecture guidance to engineering, security, and application teams, and participating in an on-call rotation that may require responding to critical outages outside business hours. This is a hybrid position based in CAA’s Nashville office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10+ years of cloud engineering experience, including 4+ years in a cloud architecture or design role.
  • Deep expertise in Microsoft Azure and solid working knowledge of AWS.
  • Advanced experience with Terraform infrastructure-as-code, including modular, version-controlled, and reusable designs.
  • Proven experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, such as Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI.
  • Deep understanding of cloud security, identity and access management, and networking within Azure and AWS.
  • Familiarity with FinOps or cloud cost optimization, including tagging, rightsizing, and reserved-instance or savings-plan concepts.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical and business teams and mentor junior engineers.

Nice To Haves

  • Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305) or Azure Administrator (AZ-104) certification; AWS certifications are also a plus.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration, including Docker and Kubernetes/AKS.
  • Scripting experience in PowerShell or Python.
  • Familiarity with media and entertainment workflows or high-bandwidth production environments.
  • Experience supporting global, multi-site organizations with 24x7 availability requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Define and own cloud architecture and reference designs across Microsoft Azure and AWS for CAA’s global platforms.
  • Establish Terraform infrastructure-as-code standards, reusable modules, and team adoption practices.
  • Set CI/CD strategy and design patterns to automate cloud workload provisioning, testing, and deployment.
  • Define cloud security architecture and best practices, including identity and access management, network segmentation, least privilege, encryption, and zero-trust principles.
  • Establish observability and capacity-planning standards, and guide incident root-cause analysis and remediation.
  • Lead FinOps practices, govern cloud spending, and identify cost savings, including AI token consumption and cost-per-inference tracking.
  • Develop and maintain architecture diagrams, standards, runbooks, and technical documentation.
  • Automate recurring operational tasks and configuration management using Terraform, PowerShell, Python, or similar tools.
  • Use GenAI tools such as Claude for code reviews, documentation validation, automated testing, and related work.
  • Deploy, manage, and scale Kubernetes (AKS) workloads, including cluster provisioning, upgrades, and workload orchestration.
  • Partner with engineering, security, and application teams as a technical authority, providing architecture guidance and escalation support.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, lead technical design reviews, and set architecture and coding standards.
  • Lead and participate in an on-call rotation and respond to critical cloud outages outside business hours as needed.
