About The Position

Under the general direction of the Director of Public Works, City Engineer, or designee, this position performs a variety of highly complex and professional engineering administration duties to support the Engineering Division and Public Works Department, including planning, directing, and supervising a variety of engineering projects and programs; and to conceptualize, develop, design, and implement all phases of difficult design and engineering research projects; and performs other related duties as assigned. The Senior Civil Engineer reports to the Director of Public Works or City Engineer and assists with overseeing the day-to-day activities of the Engineering staff. The incumbent performs the more complex projects and plans, coordinates, and manages the work of professional, subprofessional and technical personnel.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or a related field.
• Three (3) years of responsible professional experience in civil engineering or a related field.
• License or Certificate of Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer in the State of California or registration in another state and have the ability to become registered in California within six (6) months of appointment through reciprocity.
• Possession of a valid Class “C” California Motor Vehicle Operator’s License.

• Public sector and supervisory experience or lead is highly desirable.
