About The Position

This role is designed to provide day-to-day operational continuity, staff support, and market-facing leadership for the Munster office while strategic direction, priorities, and structure are set by the RPCL. The position blends senior-level technical credibility, people support, and operational accountability without requiring sole ownership of office strategy or long-term planning. The role emphasizes execution, visibility, and consistency—ensuring that established expectations are met, staff are supported, and the office operates smoothly and predictably. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or other related engineering field of study
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer in the states of Indiana or Michigan
  • Previous experience with design, construction and project management of municipal infrastructure and/or land development projects
  • Experience in proposal writing and client management; demonstrated ability to develop new business opportunities and win project proposals
  • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. without requiring visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years of previous experience in the Civil Engineering field
  • Located in western Michigan or northern Indiana
  • Previous experience managing a staff of engineering professionals and serving as a technical mentor for junior level staff
  • Current affiliation and/or membership with local, state or national Civil Engineering societies and associations

Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely submission, review, and approval of: Timesheets PM metrics and reporting Required internal administrative items
  • Monitor workload and utilization trends
  • Identify and escalate workload imbalances or resourcing risks to the RPCL.
  • Reinforce adherence to established SEH, RPC, and PMO standards.
  • Serve as the local senior professional resource for coaching and guidance.
  • Support professional development through: Regular check-ins Informal mentoring Problem-solving assistance
  • Foster a positive, collaborative office culture.
  • Maintain visibility into near-term project workload and task assignments.
  • Help balance staff availability with active project needs.
  • Coordinate internally to ensure staff remain productively utilized.
  • Surface delivery risks early and communicate them to the RPCL.
  • Support market presence in: Northeastern Indiana (including South Bend) Lower Michigan
  • Maintain and grow client relationships aligned with RPC priorities.
  • Participate in client meetings, pursuit strategy discussions, and introductions.
  • Provide market intelligence and relationship insights to the RPCL.
