About The Position

The University of Sydney is seeking a Senior Change and Engagement Consultant to play a key role in the Service Excellence Program - a major, university‑wide strategic initiative focused on improving how professional services support our community. Service Excellence has a clear vision: excellent professional services that make it easy to study, work, teach and research. In this role, you will work closely with leaders and teams across the University to support engagement, build shared understanding and enable to successful adoption of improved services, processes and ways of working. Reporting to the Organisational Change Manager, you will bring a practical, people‑centred approach to supporting service-focused change - helping translate strategy into action, strengthening capability and ensuring initiatives are well understood, well supported and effectively embedded.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience supporting large-scale initiatives through effective engagement, communication and adoption approaches in complex environments.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing capability, with the ability to build trust, work credibly with leaders and teams, and navigate diverse perspectives to gain alignment.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex initiatives clearly and effectively, and support leaders to reinforce new approaches and behaviours in practice.
  • Experience working in a complex environment (preferably within the education or public sector), with the ability to adapt approaches, manage competing priorities, and collaborate effectively.
  • Valid work rights for Australia.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engagement and adoption activities for Service Excellence initiatives of varying size and complexity, ensuring approaches are aligned to program objectives and contexts.
  • Design, and facilitate stakeholder engagement activities that build shared understanding, support informed decision‑making, and strengthen collective ownership of service improvements.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with diverse stakeholders, providing practical guidance and support to leaders as they introduce and reinforce new services and ways of working.
  • Assess impacts on services, processes and stakeholder experience, using insights to shape targeted communication, engagement, and capability‑building activities, while partnering with communications and subject matter experts to deliver clear, audience‑appropriate messaging.
  • Monitor and report on engagement and adoption activity, risks and feedback to inform continuous improvement, provide hands‑on support to program colleagues, and contribute to team capability as required.

Benefits

  • Base Salary $146,197 + 17% superannuation
