About The Position

The City of Stoughton Senior Center is seeking a Program and Volunteer Coordinator to join their team. This role is responsible for developing, organizing, promoting, expanding, and evaluating agency programs and services in collaboration with Senior Center staff. The position also leads volunteer recruitment, training, support, and evaluation for volunteers serving in various roles and locations. This is a full-time, non-exempt position offering an hourly wage of $23.00 and an excellent benefits package.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years of experience in programming and volunteer management
  • Knowledge of aging process and its effects on older adults
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with Senior Center volunteers, participants, staff and the general public
  • Strong knowledge of computer applications, specifically Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong knowledge of and willingness to learn social media platforms, collaborative websites and databases, especially Facebook, Zoom and Google Drive
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability and experience in preparing effective written reports and correspondence
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the public and co-workers
  • Comfortable in a public speaking role
  • Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to maneuver and steer equipment and machinery requiring simple but continuous adjustments, such as photocopier, computer keyboard/typewriter, calculator/adding machine and telephone.
  • Ability to exert very moderate physical effort in sedentary to light work, typically involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling.
  • Ability to recognize and identify degrees of similarities or differences between characteristics of sounds, tastes and odors associated with job-related objects, materials and ingredients.
  • Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in volunteer and event management, whether in a hospital, historical society, museum, retirement home, or a similar setting.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule and implement Senior Center programs, activities, and events.
  • Promote programs, activities and events through a variety of forms including print, social media, email campaigns and various online community calendars.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with local schools and other youth organizations to coordinate intergenerational programming.
  • Coordinate Stoughton RSVP volunteer ride program.
  • Maintain volunteer records and reports.
  • Register, orient, and train new volunteers.
  • Ensure proper placement of volunteers based on their skills and interests.
  • Plan and implement events to recognize volunteers.
  • Network with area senior centers and other organizations that provide programming or volunteer opportunities for older adults.
