About The Position

This position performs a variety of receptionist and customer service duties for the Senior Center, working under the supervision of the Assistant Program Manager and Program Coordinator. The role involves establishing and maintaining effective working relationships, providing customer service, and some supervision of volunteers. Key tasks include greeting visitors, answering phones, receiving fees, data entry, providing information about programs, performing clerical duties, assisting with class setup and cleanup, and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment.

Requirements

  • Clerical experience is preferred.
  • Must have knowledge of general clerical duties.
  • Knowledgeable in personal computer operations.
  • Experience working with the public in person and over the telephone.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to type 30 wpm preferred.
  • Some knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions.
  • Ability to work a varied schedule.
  • Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities according to work schedule.
  • Skill in the operation of listed tools and equipment, and the ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.
  • Ability to communicate, understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with co-workers, supervisors and other City departments.
  • Ability to effectively and courteously interact with the public.

Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of receptionist and customer service duties for the Senior Center.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with employees, officials, and the public.
  • Provides some supervision of volunteers.
  • Greets visitors and directs them to the appropriate area.
  • Answers and screens incoming calls and takes messages.
  • Receives fees for various activities and accounts for funds.
  • Inputs data regarding patron attendance and maintains database.
  • Gives information to the public regarding programs and services.
  • Performs general clerical duties such as computer typing, filing, and maintaining database files.
  • Assists with set up and take down of supplies and equipment for classes.
  • Assists patrons using public access computer ensuring compliance of policies.
  • Coordinates with staff for equipment set-up for classes, using signage.
  • Maintains cleanliness of equipment and reports damage.
  • Maintains a welcoming environment for patrons and reports violations of behavioral policies.
  • Assists with keeping main reception area and small kitchen clean.
  • Occasionally operates motor vehicle to deliver meals or transport patrons.
  • Works other related Senior Center activities within the Senior Center Campus or outside, as needed.
