About The Position

Western National Insurance Group is seeking a Senior Casualty Claims Representative to join their team. The individual in this role will have the opportunity to investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and resolve multi-line insurance claims as assigned. This role involves handling moderate-to-high complexity casualty claims within settlement authority, evaluating both personal and commercial lines property claims, and ensuring customer service excellence. The representative will investigate and review policy forms, facts, and claim-related documents to make claim resolution decisions, identify claim file exposures, and escalate issues as appropriate. They will establish and review proper reserves for each claim based upon thorough investigation, evaluation, and experience, while maintaining appropriate reports to ensure the status of claims is clearly documented at all times. The role also includes providing direction to outside resources, making decisions guided by general instructions and practices requiring interpretation, and automatically making decisions on routine issues. The Senior Casualty Claims Representative will recognize problems or situations that are new or without clear precedent and find solutions using a systematic, multistep approach. A commitment to personal development and improvement to enhance performance is expected. The role requires regular contact with customers, such as policyholders, claimants, and agents, as well as regular contact with employees across the organization and outside vendors. Occasional travel for field work (e.g., scene investigations, mediation, court hearings) may be required. Special projects and other duties as assigned will also be part of the responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Understanding of industry practices, standards, and claim concepts.
  • Prior casualty claims experience.
  • Ability to multitask and solve problems.
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills.
  • Analytical with ability to exercise sound business judgment.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Working toward AIC or AINS certification is preferred.
  • Proficient use of various core systems, office and computer equipment, and software packages.
  • Experience handling bodily injury and / or commercial general liability claims.
