Reporting to the Procurement Lead, the Senior Buyer will contribute to all aspects of Skeena’s procurement processes, ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials, equipment, and services required for the company’s projects. This role will collaborate closely with the organization’s engineering and on-site teams as well as external vendors.

Requirements

  • College Diploma in procurement, administration, operations management, logistics, engineering, finance or a combination of training and equivalent experience is desired.
  • Must be very comfortable with the use of computerized solutions, including the ability to produce reports and other documents with the Microsoft Office suite and ERP.
  • Familiarity with relevant BC and federal legislation and regulations.
  • Minimum 6 years of buyer experience is required.
  • Experience in mining is required.
  • Knowledge of mining industry materials, equipment, and suppliers.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and tools.
  • Familiarity with safety and quality standards in mining.
  • Detail oriented with excessive attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exhibits a high degree of responsibility for confidential matters.
  • Effective team player who can jump in wherever is needed.
  • Strong interpersonal and reasoning skills, with proven problem-solving abilities.
  • Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently as well as with others.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement purchasing procedures in collaboration with the procurement team and other departments.
  • Assist project and operations managers in purchasing and negotiating equipment, materials, products, and services.
  • Purchase materials and supplies at competitive prices, considering quality, suitability, timing, and requirements.
  • Apply strong understanding of site usage and demand levels to support accurate procurement.
  • Use supplier pricing files and internal systems to ensure pricing accuracy.
  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, address issues, and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Identify, analyze, and select suppliers for project materials and services.
  • Evaluate vendor, supplier, and contractor quotes; negotiate fair terms and rates.
  • Create and maintain a qualified vendor register and ensure all vendor correspondence is organized and recorded.
  • Build and maintain professional, ethical relationships with internal and external business clients.
  • Demonstrate social awareness and uphold Skeena Resources' opportunity‑sharing agreements.
  • Act in a socially responsible manner with the community and the company.
  • Create and present RFI, RFP, and RFQ packages; invite tenders and verify best-value options.
  • Review and analyze procurement and inventory documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Acquire required materials and services in a timely manner; create and enter purchase orders into ERP systems.
  • Evaluate vendor performance and implement corrections when needed.
