About The Position

The Senior Buyer plays a key role in executing day-to-day supply chain and procurement operations at Rocket Farms. Reporting to the Vice President of Strategy & Supply, this role ensures the timely and cost-effective sourcing, purchasing, and delivery of materials by collaborating with vendors, importers, and internal teams. This position is responsible for procuring a wide range of materials—including live plant products, floral décor, packaging supplies, and other components essential for production and packing—across all Rocket Farms facilities, including contract growers and co-packers. The Senior Buyer ensures that supply aligns with production needs while optimizing cost, quality, and delivery timelines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S./B.A.) in Business Administration or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement or supply chain roles; experience in horticulture, agriculture, or manufacturing industries is strongly preferred.
  • Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to lead cross-functional teams to deliver effective and efficient supply chain solutions.
  • Proficient in ERP/MRP systems, with hands-on experience in inventory management, purchasing, and manufacturing processes.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, for data analysis and reporting.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Bilingual skills preferred.
  • Proven abilities in planning, negotiating, and managing purchasing activities across multiple product categories.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license and qualify for company-sponsored vehicle insurance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead procurement functions including purchasing, material planning, cost analysis, system maintenance, and process improvement to meet business objectives.
  • Collaborate with sales and product development teams to manage procurement activities such as material planning, order replenishment, purchase order execution, and vendor follow-up based on lead times and sales forecasts.
  • Support logistics and receiving by overseeing import processes, working with customs brokers, managing inbound transportation, and coordinating inter-facility transfers and contingency planning.
  • Maintain and oversee the MRP system, including item master data, new item setup, bill of materials creation, and inventory control.
  • Monitor vendor inventory reports and ensure timely deliveries; assist in invoice verification and approvals.
  • Partner cross-functionally with teams such as product development, S&OP, horticulture, and operations to drive solutions and support key initiatives.
  • Develop and standardize procurement SOPs across product lines to improve efficiency and control costs.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to support quality improvements, service agreements, and awareness of industry trends.
  • Conduct regular evaluations of supplier performance, cost and margin reviews, risk assessments, and lead pricing and contract negotiations.
