About The Position

Curries (an ASSA ABLOY company) is growing! We are adding a Senior Buyer to our team located in Mason City, Iowa. This is an onsite role that will report to the Supply Chain Manager. You will lead complex, high-value, and business-critical procurement activities while developing sourcing and supplier strategies that support cost, quality, service, inventory, and risk objectives. You will serve as a procurement subject matter expert, helping establish best practices, improve processes, guide cross-functional decisions, and coach other members of the buying team. This is an opportunity to influence procurement strategy, strengthen supplier performance, and create measurable value across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations, or a related field preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Five or more years of progressive experience in procurement, supply chain, manufacturing, operations, or a related function preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex sourcing, negotiations, supplier-performance, cost-reduction, risk-mitigation, and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Advanced knowledge of strategic sourcing, cost analysis, supplier management, materials planning, inventory, and supply risk.
  • Advanced experience working with ERP or MRP systems, analytical tools, and manufacturing supply chains preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills, including spend analysis, market benchmarking, should-cost thinking, and business-case development.
  • Ability to lead complex negotiations and influence senior internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong business judgment with the ability to manage ambiguity, risk, competing priorities, and high-impact decisions.
  • Ability to translate complex information into clear, concise recommendations.
  • Experience improving processes, establishing standards, and leading change.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach others and transfer procurement knowledge effectively.
  • APICS, CPM, CPSM, or related professional certification is beneficial.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and travel occasionally.

Responsibilities

  • Develop category and supplier strategies aligned with cost, quality, service, inventory, risk, and broader business objectives.
  • Lead complex RFQs, supplier selections, negotiations, transitions, and contracting activities.
  • Manage high-value, business-critical, or multi-category spend portfolios.
  • Drive cost-reduction programs and maintain a qualified pipeline of savings opportunities.
  • Build advanced benchmarks, should-cost analyses, market-index approaches, and supplier cost models.
  • Identify value opportunities involving material alternatives, specification improvements, supplier rationalization, logistics, working capital, and process redesign.
  • Lead supplier business reviews, performance scorecards, corrective actions, risk discussions, and joint improvement priorities.
  • Manage strategic supplier relationships and resolve complex commercial, capacity, quality, delivery, or supply-continuity concerns.
  • Establish contingency and risk-mitigation plans for critical suppliers and materials.
  • Design replenishment and inventory strategies that balance service, lead time, risk, and working-capital considerations.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to resolve systemic inventory, forecasting, transaction, and material-availability issues.
  • Improve procurement processes, controls, dashboards, reporting, standard work, and audit readiness.
  • Champion the practical use of ERP capabilities, analytics, automation, AI, and emerging technologies to reduce non-value-added work.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using root cause analysis and measurable outcome tracking.
  • Coach Buyer I and Buyer II team members through onboarding, knowledge sharing, technical guidance, and competency development.
