About The Position

As the Sr. Buyer, you will have end-to-end (cradle-to-grave) ownership of procurement execution and outcomes for assigned commodities, suppliers, and Contract Manufacturers (CMs). This role is accountable for material availability, supplier and CM execution performance, inventory health, and cost effectiveness, operating within established category strategies and commercial frameworks defined by Category Management. The Sr. Buyer partners cross-functionally and externally to ensure supply continuity, scalability, and compliance while delivering measurable execution-level procurement results that support manufacturing operations, product changes, and business growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or equivalent Buyer/Purchasing experience.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience supporting a manufacturing environment; medical device experience preferred.
  • Experience in production control, material demand planning, or supply chain management.
  • Strong working knowledge of modern ERP/MRP systems.
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, macros, managing large data sets).
  • Strong ability to communicate and partner cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, R&D, Finance, Quality, suppliers, and Contract Manufacturers.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently; motivated, detail-oriented, and execution-focused.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States is required.

Responsibilities

  • Own the full procurement execution lifecycle (cradle-to-grave) for assigned scope—from purchase order execution and delivery through issue resolution, performance management, and close-out.
  • Serve as the single point of accountability for supplier and CM execution, ensuring cost, quality, delivery, and service objectives are met throughout the lifecycle of parts and programs.
  • Negotiate and procure materials, components, equipment, supplies, and services within established category strategies, contracts, and commercial frameworks defined by Category Management.
  • Collaborate with Calyxo Sourcing teams on supplier selection, negotiations, and implementation
  • Support spot buys and tactical supplier identification and purchasing
  • Cross-train with Sourcing teams to act as support and backup roles on the sourcing team, as needed
  • Plan, execute, and monitor purchase orders using MRP, Kanban, Blanket POs, reschedules, and other appropriate planning techniques to meet production requirements.
  • Execute pull-ins, push-outs, cancellations, and expedites at minimal total cost while protecting continuity of supply.
  • Process returns to suppliers and ensure applicable credits are applied.
  • Work closely with Receiving, Finance, and suppliers to reconcile discrepancies in receiving and invoicing.
  • Actively manage Contract Manufacturers (CMs) as an extension of Calyxo’s manufacturing operations, ensuring material readiness, capacity alignment, and execution to production requirements.
  • Partner with CMs to support scale-up, engineering changes, and product transitions, ensuring sourcing execution, lead times, and inventory plans remain aligned to demand.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain, Quality, and Engineering to assess CM execution performance, drive corrective actions, and ensure timely implementation of agreed improvements.
  • Support supplier or CM transitions and implementations led by Category Management, ensuring effective execution and continuity of supply.
  • Own inventory execution strategies for assigned materials, balancing service levels, working capital, lead times, and demand variability within defined inventory policies.
  • Monitor and adjust inventory targets to prevent shortages and excess, proactively identifying risks and executing mitigation actions.
  • Review forecasts with key stakeholders, integrate feedback, and ensure supply execution remains aligned to demand and operational priorities.
  • Monitor supplier and CM execution performance and ensure compliance with released specifications, contracts, and quality requirements.
  • Escalate and manage supplier or CM issues with structured follow-up and recovery plans.
  • Participate in supplier sourcing events, assessments, and audits in support of Category Management–led strategies, working closely with the Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE).
  • Maintain accurate supplier files and purchasing system data to support execution discipline and data integrity.
  • Visit suppliers and CMs as needed to support execution performance and issue resolution.
  • Identify and deliver execution-driven cost savings and cost-avoidance opportunities while maintaining supply continuity and compliance.
  • Create, improve, and follow purchasing processes and work instructions; drive transaction discipline and adherence to purchasing policies and company standards of conduct.
  • Own execution-level procurement KPIs for assigned suppliers and parts, including on-time delivery recovery, supplier and CM performance, inventory effectiveness, and execution-related cost savings.
  • Analyze performance trends, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to improve results.
  • Provide timely, proactive communication to cross-functional stakeholders regarding risks, constraints, and mitigation plans.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
