About The Position

The Senior Business Systems Analyst plans and directs the analysis of complex business problems to be solved with automated systems. This entails working closely with business partners, developers, testers, scrum leads, product owners, data teams, and project managers to develop software specifications, perform impact analysis, monitor the progress of software development, and validate that subsequent software meets requirements. The role involves mentoring and collaborating with technical and non-technical team members, leading the requirements gathering and analysis process independently. The Senior Business Analyst should be able to lead the analysis of 1-2 projects and multiple products independently.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university; and three to five plus years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with Agile delivery models, backlog management and prioritization.
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of SharePoint and Microsoft Suite.
  • Broad knowledge with SDLC methodologies.
  • Experience working with automated testing tools, quality assurance best practices and SQL queries.
  • Excellent analytical and problem resolution skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, process, deadlines, and quality results.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to interact with a wide variety of clients, both internal and external.
  • Self-motivated to develop unique approaches to special projects.
  • Commitment to continuous education with ability and willingness to transfer knowledge.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience within the professional and/or commercial insurance industry.
  • Strong understanding of underwriting workflows, risk assessment, and policy lifecycle.
  • Experience working with externally facing applications to ensure proper coordination with Legal, Security, and Corporate Communications before changes are rolled out.

Responsibilities

  • Elicit, analyze, and document business and system requirements with strong skills in requirements decomposition (epics → features → user stories → acceptance criteria).
  • Communicate changes that have a downstream impact to systems/modules managed by other teams to ensure awareness and alignment around any changes and the criticality/priority of the changes.
  • Independently facilitate stakeholder alignment across business and IT.
  • Facilitate and/or participate in workshops, discovery sessions, and stakeholder interviews.
  • Consult with business to identify and document business needs and objectives, current operational procedures, problems, input and output requirements, data scope, usage, formatting, and security requirements.
  • Document and analyze nonfunctional requirements for the systems, ensuring they comply with HIPAA, state regulations, and data privacy standards.
  • Perform process mapping, data analysis, wireframing, and prototyping to assist in the design phase of software development.
  • Translate business needs into functional and technical specifications.
  • Write and maintain functional specifications for new or modified business systems by consulting with developers, data engineers, and IT management.
  • Solicit acceptance criteria in partnership with Product Owners.
  • Drive and collaborate with testing teams to validate business and functional process and outcomes.
  • Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to ensure requirements are met.
  • Ensure traceability from requirements through delivery.
  • Monitor and document post-implementation problems and revision requests.
  • Assist with user training and related documentation as needed to ensure smooth adoption of changes/enhancements.
  • Support evolving business needs, as applicable.

Benefits

  • Base salary range is $90,475 - $122,405.
  • Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors that are unique to each candidate including location, skill set, experience, qualifications, and education.
