Senior Business Development Operations Analyst

Suffolk ConstructionBoston, MA

About The Position

Reporting to the Director of Business Development Operations, the Senior Business Development Operations Analyst builds the systems that keep Suffolk’s business development organization running. Pursuits need to be tracked, performance needs to be visible, and sellers should not be spending their time assembling information by hand. This is a builder’s role: designing and shipping internal tools — many of them AI-enabled — that automate manual effort, extending the tools the organization already runs on, and putting better internal and external data in front of sellers and company leadership. The role rewards initiative. Beyond responding to requests, the Senior Analyst is expected to spot where the organization is working harder than it needs to and bring forward ideas no one has asked for yet. The Senior Analyst also serves as the team’s senior technical resource — mentoring colleagues, setting the standards for how the team builds, and acting as one of business development’s counterparts to the IT, Data, and AI organizations. This is an exciting opportunity to shape some of Suffolk’s biggest company-wide initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Analytics, Data Science, Statistics or a related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in analytics, business intelligence, consulting or operations, preferably within a complex organization or a similar role requiring structured analysis and stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience building and deploying internal tools and automated workflows for business users, including applications that use AI capabilities, in close partnership with the end users themselves.
  • Proficiency with SQL and Python, and experience working in a cloud-based analytics environment (e.g., Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery).
  • Experience with business intelligence and visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • A track record of identifying problems independently and proposing solutions, rather than working only from defined requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience producing executive-ready materials and engaging senior stakeholders across functions.
  • Comfort working in ambiguous environments and managing multiple concurrent workstreams.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Business Analytics, Data Science or a related field.
  • Experience supporting business development, sales, or go-to-market teams.
  • Experience working with CRM, financial, or operational datasets.
  • Experience with semantic layer or data modeling tools.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the dashboards, reports, and datasets that help Business Development teams track performance, pipeline health, and revenue opportunities, and conduct targeted analysis to answer immediate business questions.
  • Take a critical look at the tools, trackers, and point solutions the business development organization depends on today — extending what works, replacing what does not, and reducing the manual effort and workarounds that have accumulated around them.
  • Design and build internal tools that remove manual effort across pursuit tracking, client and market research, and deliverable production. Own these products from problem definition through build, rollout, and adoption, including decisions about what not to build.
  • Work with stakeholders to gain deep understanding of BD processes and gaps. Use this knowledge to proactively identify new ways for sellers and company leadership to capture and use both internal and external data, bringing forward ideas for tools and datasets that no one has asked for yet.
  • Develop repeatable client, market, and pursuit research products that equip sellers ahead of key decisions, and present findings and recommendations directly — growing into a trusted voice with executive audiences.
  • Serve as the technical mentor for the business development operations team, coaching less technical colleagues on tooling, analytical technique, and establishing patterns and reusable components the team builds on.
  • Act as one of the business development organization’s technical counterparts to the IT, Data, and AI teams — translating seller needs into requirements, partnering on platform standards, architecture, and deployment, and retaining ownership of BD priorities and end-user adoption.
