About The Position

Universal Logistics is seeking a Business Analyst to perform work across business groups including Sales, Pricing, Customer Service, Dispatch/Operations, Billing and Invoicing, Payroll Settlements, and Accounts Payable. The role spans software integration implementation, technical documentation for IT, and auditing and reporting business statistics to stakeholders and executive teams. The position combines data analytics with project management. It extracts, interprets, validates, and presents data; develops and maintains dashboards and reports; and translates business needs into data requirements and actionable insights. It also supports project planning and delivery, requirements and workflow documentation, coordination among business and technical partners, risk and change management, and testing of integrations and exchanged data. Universal Logistics Holdings describes itself as a multi-billion-dollar logistics provider with more than 90 years in the industry, providing transportation, value-added, intermodal, and specialized supply-chain services.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field.
At least 4 years of combined experience in one or more of transportation, logistics, business analysis, project management, or financial reporting.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency with data analysis and visualization tools, including Excel, Access, and Qlik.
Strong interpersonal and public-speaking abilities; ability to lead, present, and respond on regular conference calls.
Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
Experience with transportation management systems (TMS) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) software.
Knowledge of SQL queries, primary keys, and database fundamentals.
Solid understanding of APIs and EDI, including ability to explain differences between EDI transaction sets 204, 990, 214, 210, and 997.
Ability to pass an in-person Microsoft Excel competency exam and explain the reasons for formulas used.

Responsibilities

Extract, analyze, and interpret data from relational databases.
Develop and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using business intelligence tools such as Excel, Qlik, and Power BI.
Communicate and review business objectives with stakeholders and executive teams.
Validate and clean data to maintain consistency and integrity.
Translate business needs into data requirements and provide actionable insights.
Identify data trends and provide recommendations to support strategic decisions.
Work with cross-functional teams to define and track key performance indicators (KPIs).
Audit projects and identify data trends.
Present and summarize findings and data visualizations to stakeholders in a clear, actionable format.
Help develop project plans, define milestones, establish timelines, assign resources, manage dependencies, and ensure timely delivery.
Gather business and technical requirements, document workflows, create business requirements documents (BRDs), and translate business needs into technical specifications.
Coordinate internal IT departments, business stakeholders, software vendors, developers, and third-party integration partners while maintaining accountability.
Manage a RACI matrix.
Review and maintain RAID logs, identify integration risks, manage escalations, and develop mitigation strategies.
Coordinate unit testing, system integration testing (SIT), user acceptance testing (UAT), defect tracking, and validation of data exchanged between systems.
Prepare project status reports, executive dashboards, milestone tracking, meeting agendas, and action-item logs; communicate complex technical issues to nontechnical stakeholders.
Manage and update change requests, evaluate business and technical impacts, prevent scope creep, and maintain formal approval processes.
Oversee implementation of software integration connections and submit detailed technical write-ups to IT.
Audit and report business statistics to stakeholders and executive teams.
