Senior Business Analyst
About The Position
The Senior Business Analyst conducts project initiation, requirements elicitation, and application testing to support new software applications and enhancements. The role works closely with business and Information Systems teams to produce compliant documentation and ensure systems meet defined business needs. The analyst documents requirements, represents business needs during application design and development, and writes and executes tests to verify that applications meet requirements and design specifications. The role also supports standardized documentation processes and user acceptance testing.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in business and systems analysis, requirements documentation, the system development life cycle, and agile application development methodologies such as Scrum.
- Extensive experience defining and documenting user requirements from multiple sources and preparing complex documents for business users and developers.
- Extensive experience supporting application development, maintenance, and implementation; systems analysis and design; and business process improvement.
- Extensive experience defining and documenting business processes and mapping or developing processes in a new system.
- Experience manually testing web applications.
- Considerable experience testing complex systems to determine whether business needs are met.
- Ability to write and execute test plans and scripts according to identified standards.
- Experience conducting meetings and documenting project decisions.
- Ability to identify and document bugs or insufficiencies in a web application.
- Ability to participate successfully in a development team, foster a team environment, and communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Nice To Haves
- Familiarity with web application software development projects using .NET.
- Familiarity with documenting requirements in Microsoft Team Foundation Server.
Responsibilities
- Conduct project initiation activities to identify problems and objectives related to computer applications and issues to address during requirements definition.
- Elicit and document requirements for new applications and enhancements to existing applications.
- Work with business and Information Systems staff to produce system development life cycle-compliant Requirements Definition documents within established time frames.
- Ensure requirements are clear, concise, complete, and compliant with organizational guidelines and standards.
- Assist with developing processes and templates to create standardized, repeatable documentation.
- Attend application design and development scrum meetings to represent business needs and requirements.
- Write and execute system test plans to verify systems meet documented requirements.
- Manually test web applications and verify successful completion of test plans.
- Create testing plans to confirm applications meet requirements and design specifications.
- Document bugs and application insufficiencies with enough detail for developers to reproduce and correct them.
- Assist with developing user testing scripts for User Acceptance Testing.
