About The Position
Kinsale Insurance is hiring Business Analysts and Senior Business Analysts to support business applications, process improvement initiatives, and SQL-based analysis. The role partners with business operational partners, product owners, stakeholders, and technical teams to translate business needs into effective solutions. The company is hiring across experience levels, from analysts developing their skills to experienced professionals who can lead by example and influence decisions. The position involves understanding business applications, workflows, and constraints; gathering requirements; identifying process improvements; analyzing data; supporting product rollouts and enhancements; investigating defects; and maintaining production solutions through a defined change management process. It also contributes to testing, post-deployment verification, documentation, training materials, and third-party software selection and implementation. Senior-level analysts additionally consult across teams and stakeholders, perform complex analysis and measurement, and develop solutions to complex requirements while anticipating downstream implications.
Requirements

- Experience with relational databases and the ability to write and execute basic SQL queries.
- Familiarity with JSON.
- Familiarity with business process documentation (BPM).

Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Technology, or a related field is preferred.
- For senior-level candidates: 4+ years of business analyst experience.
- For senior-level candidates: ability to write code in JSON and write and execute complex SQL queries.
- For senior-level candidates: Jira expertise and demonstrated business process documentation experience.
- For senior-level candidates: experience performing complex analysis and measurement.
Responsibilities
- Develop a deep understanding of business applications, workflows, and constraints to elicit clear business requirements.
- Partner with business stakeholders and technical teams to identify process improvements and drive efficiencies across people, process, and technology.
- Conduct data analysis to support requirements gathering and defect resolution.
- Support the rollout of new products and enhancements using configuration utilities and SQL scripts.
- Triage root causes of defects and collaborate with technical teams to ensure system designs meet business needs.
- Create proofs of concept that demonstrate solutions and work closely with product owners on complex projects.
- Serve as a primary point of contact on how products and technology support business processes.
- Maintain solutions in production through a defined change management process.
- Support testing and post-deployment verification, develop documentation and training materials, and contribute to third-party software selection and implementation.
- For senior-level analysts: consult across teams and stakeholders, including data and internal audit, on work of varying complexity and scope.
- For senior-level analysts: partner with the Product Owner, Team Coach, and stakeholders to contribute to team goals.
- For senior-level analysts: perform complex analysis and measurement, such as product valuations.
- For senior-level analysts: deliver creative solutions to complex requirements while anticipating downstream implications.
