Senior Business Analyst (Finance & Sales)

Tavily•New York City, NY

About The Position

Tavily is hiring a Senior Business Analyst to partner closely with Finance and Sales and turn data into decisions. The role owns key company metrics, including revenue (ARR/MRR), bookings, pipeline, conversion, net revenue retention, and gross margin. It goes beyond reporting to uncover business drivers, shape planning and go-to-market strategy, and help leadership answer critical questions. This is a high-ownership, hands-on position combining strategic communication with technical analysis, with an expectation that the work will influence business decisions. The analyst will define and maintain trusted business metrics, build financial and pipeline models that connect product usage and billing data, and produce reliable reporting and analysis. The role also supports strategic initiatives such as pricing and packaging, segment strategy, capacity planning, and go-to-market experiments, measuring their impact before and after implementation.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience as an Analyst, including at least 2 years as a Business Analyst, FP&A Analyst, Revenue/Sales Operations Analyst, or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years working at a SaaS company, with understanding of ARR, bookings, NRR, CAC, payback, pipeline coverage, and other SaaS business metrics.
  • Hands-on experience supporting Finance and/or Sales teams, with a track record of owning metric definitions relied upon by a company.
  • Strong SQL skills and comfort working with large, messy datasets across different sources.
  • Hands-on experience using Python for data analysis and data modeling in a production environment.
  • BSc in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with modern data tooling such as Snowflake or BigQuery, dbt, and BI tools such as Omni, Looker, or Tableau.
  • Experience at an API-first, developer-focused, usage-based, or product-led growth (PLG) company.
  • Experience with usage-based billing and revenue recognition tools such as Stripe, Metronome, or NetSuite.
  • Experience with CRM analytics (HubSpot or Salesforce) and sales compensation or quota design.
  • Statistical foundation in experimentation and causal inference.
  • Experience with Airflow or similar orchestration tools.
  • MBA or MSc in a quantitative field.

Responsibilities

  • Own core business metrics end-to-end: define them, build a single source of truth, and align Finance, Sales, and leadership on the numbers.
  • Partner with Finance on revenue recognition, forecasting, budgeting, and board and investor reporting; turn usage and billing data into reliable financial views.
  • Partner with Sales on pipeline health, funnel conversion, win/loss, sales cycle, quota attainment, territory and segment performance, and compensation analytics.
  • Monitor key business metrics, investigate trends and anomalies, and proactively surface actionable insights to stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain revenue and pipeline models connecting product usage and billing data.
  • Write production-quality SQL and Python to model data, automate recurring reporting, and run analyses at scale.
  • Translate findings into clear recommendations and drive alignment across Finance, Sales, and leadership.
  • Support pricing and packaging changes, segment strategy, capacity planning, and go-to-market experiments, including before-and-after impact measurement.

Benefits

  • 100% company-paid medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees and families.
  • 401(k) plan with up to 4% company match and immediate vesting.
  • Paid parental leave: 20 weeks for primary caregivers and 12 weeks for secondary caregivers.
  • Remote work reimbursement of up to $85 per month for mobile and internet.
  • Company-paid short-term disability, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage.
