About The Position

As a Senior Business Analyst, you will act as a vital intermediary between our users and implementation teams. You will be responsible for drawing up requirement statements, advising on business and systems use, and following up on change requests to ensure our products deliver maximum value. This role reports to: MX Trading & TMX Operation Portal Lead. Job Location: This role is hybrid (2-3 days/week in the office) - based in Montreal, QC.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years working with complex technology systems, with at least 3 years in the financial sector specifically as a Business Analyst, Product Manager, or in a related discipline.
  • Expert-level skills in requirement gathering, management, and software development-related business analysis.
  • Previous experience and a strong working knowledge of Agile methodologies.
  • Excellent communication (verbal, written, and diagramming) with the ability to work collaboratively with developers, QA analysts, and stakeholders.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, strong investigative and problem-solving skills, and the ability to navigate ambiguity while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Basic knowledge of Financial Instruments and their purpose.
  • Fluency in both French and English (written and spoken) is required, as this role involves regular interaction with partners and stakeholders in both languages.

Responsibilities

  • Define and document comprehensive functional and non-functional requirements, acting as the primary "voice of the customer" within the squad.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and agile squads to gather and confirm requirements, ensuring technical impact and value delivery are balanced.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for TMX business activities and systems usage, providing daily support to squad members to clarify and iterate on requirements.
  • Maintain integrity of product specifications, ensuring all product documentation and client-facing marketing materials remain accurate and up to date.
  • Drive Agile excellence by participating in story refinement, estimation, and all ceremonies.
  • Assist the Squad Lead in researching new product opportunities and mapping out the long-term product roadmap, with opportunities to take on Product Owner tasks.
  • Design and create robust test scenarios and test cases directly linked to user stories in collaboration with the squad.
  • Identify and document high-risk aspects of upcoming releases to set testing priorities and scope.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies by analyzing test outputs and tracking issues through to closure following established QA processes.
  • Ensure quality by identifying application areas with high business impact or historical quality challenges.
