About The Position

CBC/Radio-Canada is seeking a Senior Broadcast Technologist (T & I) to join their Technology & Infrastructure (T & I) team. This role is crucial for developing the next-generation public broadcaster by supporting studio, content creation, and presentation groups with technical issues and implementing new technologies. The T & I team is responsible for making media content, systems, people, and places connect, modernizing infrastructure, and transforming the organization into a digital media company. The position requires full-time on-site presence and involves supporting broadcast and IT systems, implementing technologies like virtualization and video-over-IP, and ensuring content is prepared, scheduled, and available digitally or on air. The role offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge broadcast infrastructure, solve complex technical challenges, and contribute to the transformation of the media landscape.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, Broadcast, or a related field.
  • General understanding and knowledge of computers, networking, IP infrastructure, and maintenance of equipment, systems, and relevant software technologies.
  • Familiarity with Windows Server Systems, MacOS, and Linux.
  • Skilled at communicating effectively with internal partners, relaying opinions with sensitivity, listening, and understanding perspectives.
  • Ability to expertly analyze and synthesize information and document technical specifications.
  • Ability to work in a stressful and demanding environment of a production centre, carrying out duties effectively under tight deadlines while maintaining a professional and positive attitude.
  • Empathetic and patient, understanding the user perspective.

Responsibilities

  • Support the studio, content creation, and presentation groups with technical issues.
  • Implement groundbreaking technologies across sites.
  • Install, configure, test, troubleshoot, repair, maintain, update, and modify equipment, software, systems, and facilities.
  • Ensure proper operating condition and optimal performance of broadcast and IT systems.
  • Contribute ideas, develop methods, and make recommendations to overcome problems and achieve desired results.
  • Work closely with vendor and internal partners across the organization.
  • Proactively and in-the-moment solve problems to ensure users can engage with new functionalities and tools.
  • Provide rapid, stable solutions and support to users.
