About The Position

Fort Vancouver Regional Libraries is seeking a full-time (40 hours/week) Senior Branch Supervisor for Woodland Community Library. The position will prioritize and schedule staff and daily activities of the branch and its outlets and participate in the management of the branch. Additionally, the position will help patrons locate information and materials and use related technology; and will perform circulation duties, respond to patron problems, and manage the local collection. The position may participate in planning and providing programs and participating in outreach activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of related work experience; including customer service experience
  • Two (2) to five (5) years of supervisory experience

Responsibilities

  • Supervise assigned staff; assign and review work; train, mentor, evaluate and provide performance feedback to staff, volunteers and substitutes; and participate in the interview and hiring process.
  • Participate in the management of the branch, including the budgeting of time and materials, act in place of the branch manager and other branch staff when necessary.
  • Assist in the development of new procedures; and implement new policies and procedures.
  • Assess routine and unique work assignments and activities and make changes as necessary to streamline work for effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Respond to patron problems, seeking to resolve them and provide positive outcomes; provide direction and guidance for other staff in resolving patron problems.
  • Provide reference and reader’s advisory assistance to library patrons; refer questions as needed; provide instructions to patrons regarding library catalog searching, computer use, technology and use of personal information devices; troubleshoot problems as necessary.
  • Participate in the management of the branch collection.
  • Resolve or report building technology, safety, and maintenance problems.
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement branch programs for patrons of various ages; implement district-wide programs in branch for various age patrons.
  • Participate in community outreach activities within the branch community; may manage or plan outreach and/or external partnership activities.
  • Participate in organizational meetings and committees; lead and attend meetings and participate in committees and organizations that further the library’s mission and goals.
  • Keep informed of current library practices by attending workshops and educational programs and reading specialized literature.
