About The Position

Retell AI is seeking its first billing owner to build and manage the company's billing and accounts receivable (AR) processes from scratch. The company has experienced rapid growth, scaling from $5M to $80M ARR in under two years, with a significant increase in enterprise and usage-based contracts. This role will be responsible for establishing the necessary processes, systems, and controls for billing and AR, and will eventually lead a team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in AR, billing, or collections within high-growth SaaS or usage-based companies, with experience in building these functions from the ground up. They should be comfortable working with large enterprise customers, their AP teams, and possess solid accounting fundamentals. Experience with billing and finance tools like Stripe, NetSuite, or QuickBooks is essential. The role offers a unique opportunity to set the foundation for how the company gets paid and to make a significant impact in a fast-growing voice AI company.

Requirements

6+ years in AR, billing, or collections, including enterprise B2B.
Proven experience building an AR or collections process from scratch at a high-growth SaaS or usage-based company.
Hands-on experience with billing and finance tools (e.g., Stripe, NetSuite, QuickBooks).
Confidence in working with large customers' AP and procurement teams.
Solid accounting fundamentals: AR aging, cash application, reconciliations.

Nice To Haves

Experience with usage-based or committed-spend contracts.
CPA or audit experience.
Experience as the first finance ops hire at a startup.

Responsibilities

Own enterprise accounts receivable, building the function from zero to one, ensuring invoices are sent on time and cash is collected predictably.
Build the enterprise AR process from scratch, including invoicing, collections cadence, and cash application.
Own collections for enterprise accounts, managing aging, DSO, and disputes.
Set up invoicing for large contracts, including committed-spend and usage-based terms.
Collaborate with Sales, Customer Success, and customers' AP teams on escalations.
Select and implement AR and billing tools, focusing on automation.
Guide contract accountants and report on AR health.
