About The Position

Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center's Behavioral Health Department is seeking an experienced Senior Behavioral Health Therapist. This role is crucial for extending God’s care through physical, mental, and spiritual healing. Qualified candidates are eligible for a $10,000 sign-on bonus (excluding current AHC employees).

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical social work experience, preferably in medical or behavioral health settings.
  • Current licensure as LCSW-C, LCPC, or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in conducting substance use assessments with ASAM criteria.
  • Strong skills in assessment, treatment planning, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience facilitating group therapy with adults and/or adolescents preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide quality therapeutic care appropriate to the age, diagnoses, developmental state, and mental status of assigned clients.
  • Initiate and implement comprehensive psychosocial assessments.
  • Provide individual, group, and family therapies to clients and their families.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary treatment teams to develop strategies and interventions for optimal therapeutic outcomes.
  • Assist clients in developing self-respect, dignity, integrity, and self-actualization through various therapeutic services.
  • Document services provided and disseminate information/reports to community referral sources and agencies.
  • Coordinate with the interdisciplinary team, referral sources, and community resources for aftercare and supportive services to ensure successful discharge planning.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills to diffuse psychotic and/or behavioral crises to ensure client, unit, and staff safety and stability.
  • Assess and intervene in cases of suspected/disclosed child/adult neglect/abuse issues.
  • Promote positive patient-family-community relations.
  • Supervise interns in psychotherapeutic treatment of patients and their families, including individual therapy, parent collateral work, family therapy, couples therapy, and group therapy.
  • Monitor patient progress in treatment and formally review treatment plans and goals regularly.
  • Supervise interns' consultation with other professionals working with the client to ensure coordinated and comprehensive service delivery.
  • Supervise interns' documentation, including maintenance of charts, parent information forms, consent forms, data collection forms, progress notes, and treatment plans and goals as required by state DHMH.
