About The Position

AHC SGMC Behavioral Health seeks to hire an experienced Behavioral Health Therapist who will embrace our mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental, and spiritual healing. As a Behavioral Health Therapist, you will demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide quality therapeutic care that is appropriate to the age, diagnoses, developmental state, and mental status of the clients that are assigned to their specific unit/department. You will initiate and implement complete, comprehensive psychosocial assessments, and provide individual, group, and family therapies to clients and their families. You will participate in an interdisciplinary treatment team to propose and develop strategies and interventions that would promote excellent therapeutic outcomes. You will assist clients in their development of self-respect, dignity, integrity, and self-actualization through a multitude of traditional and adjunctive therapeutic services. You will document services provided and disseminate information/reports to community referral sources and agencies, i.e., DJS, DSS, HHS, APS, CPS, LCC, etc. You will coordinate with the interdisciplinary team, referral sources, and community resources aftercare and supportive services to ensure a successful discharge planning process. You will demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to diffuse psychotic and/or behavioral crises to ensure client, unit, and staff safety and stability. You will assess and intervene in cases of suspected/disclosed child/adult neglect/abuse issues and promote positive patient-family-community relations. You will supervise interns in psychotherapeutic treatment of patients and their families including individual therapy, parent collateral work, family therapy, couples therapy, and group therapy. You will monitor the progress of patients in treatment and formally review treatment plans and goals regularly. You will supervise interns' consultation with other professionals working with the client to assure coordinated and comprehensive service delivery and supervise interns' documentation, including maintenance of charts in a complete, timely and legible form, including parent information forms, consent forms, data collection forms, progress notes, and treatment plans and goals as required by state DHMH.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical social work experience, preferably in medical or behavioral health settings.
  • Current licensure as LCSW-C, LCPC, or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in conducting substance use assessments with ASAM criteria.
  • Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience facilitating group therapy with adults and/or adolescents preferred.
  • Strong skills in assessment, treatment planning, and interdisciplinary collaboration
