About The Position

Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center - Behavioral Health seeks to hire an experienced Behavioral Health Therapist who will embrace our mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental, and spiritual healing. The Behavioral Health Therapist demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide quality therapeutic care that is appropriate to the age, diagnoses, developmental state, and mental status of the clients that are assigned to their specific unit/department. They initiate and implement complete, comprehensive psychosocial assessments and provide individual, group, and family therapies to clients and their families. The therapist participates in an interdisciplinary treatment team to propose and develop strategies and interventions that would promote excellent therapeutic outcomes. They assist clients in their development of self-respect, dignity, integrity, and self-actualization through a multitude of traditional and adjunctive therapeutic services. The therapist documents services provided and disseminates information/reports to community referral sources and agencies, i.e., DJS, DSS, HHS, APS, CPS, LCC, etc. They co-ordinate with the interdisciplinary team, referral sources, and community resources for aftercare and supportive services to ensure a successful discharge planning process. The therapist demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to diffuse psychotic and/or behavioral crises to ensure client, unit, and staff safety and stability. They assess and intervene in cases of suspected/disclosed child/adult neglect/abuse issues and promote positive patient-family-community relations. The role also involves supervising interns in psychotherapeutic treatment of patients and their families, including individual therapy, parent collateral work, family therapy, couples therapy, and group therapy. This includes monitoring progress of patients in treatment, formally reviewing treatment plans and goals regularly, and consulting with other professionals working with the client to assure coordinated and comprehensive service delivery. Supervision of interns' documentation, including maintenance of charts in a complete, timely, and legible form, is also a responsibility.

Requirements

Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program required.
Minimum of 2 years of clinical social work experience, preferably in medical or behavioral health settings.
Current licensure as LCSW-C, LCPC, or equivalent.
Proficiency in conducting substance use assessments with ASAM criteria.
Strong skills in assessment, treatment planning, and interdisciplinary collaboration
Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required

Nice To Haves

Experience facilitating group therapy with adults and/or adolescents preferred.
