About The Position

Anduril Maritime is seeking a Senior Battery Systems Engineer to join its Enabling Technology team. The role focuses on designing, developing, testing, and certifying high-density energy systems for maritime products, with emphasis on technical execution, performance, and safety in harsh maritime environments. The engineer will work with the Enabling Technology team, platform leads, multidisciplinary internal teams, and external vendors to advance energy solutions and integrate them into Anduril Maritime products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Systems Engineering.
  • At least 6 years of hands-on experience working on power-system design and development.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience designing, developing, testing, and supporting delivery of high-density energy storage systems for complex and harsh environments.
  • Experience contributing to the development and execution of battery safety plans.
  • Strong technical fundamentals in energy storage systems, electronics design, and/or product development.
  • Experience designing high-reliability, mission-critical power systems.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to translate complex system requirements into executable technical tasks and successfully deliver against them.
  • Ability to execute technical development efforts, self-assess against key performance parameters, and work effectively across multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Excellent technical communication skills, including the ability to explain critical findings and conclusions to varied audiences.
  • Experience supporting battery certification efforts, including UN38.3 and NAVSEA 9310.
  • Experience with subsea electromechanical design.
  • Experience contributing to product development in electromechanical systems, ideally energy systems.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and mature high-density energy storage systems through internal engineering projects, contributing to hardware and software solutions.
  • Execute sections of the energy technology roadmap by developing capabilities, validating current systems, and optimizing them.
  • Perform and support energy-system certification efforts, including work related to UN38.3 and NAVSEA 9310.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary internal teams and external vendors to integrate energy systems into maritime products using agile development and CI/CD principles.
  • Identify energy demands, develop technical specifications, and ensure energy systems meet endurance and safety requirements.
  • Conduct testing, analysis, and validation of energy systems, documenting findings to support shipping and use certifications.
  • Communicate technical development status, findings, and issues to internal stakeholders, lead engineers, and potentially external partners.
  • Evaluate new energy technologies and industry trends, researching and proposing solutions to enhance product capabilities.
  • Provide technical inputs for proposals, including engineering execution plans, and contribute to customer deliverables and requests for information.
  • Perform mission- and system-level trade studies and detailed analysis to inform design decisions balancing risk, cost, and performance.
  • Participate in Root Cause Corrective Action activities for energy and power systems and incorporate lessons learned into design improvements and future requirements.

Benefits

  • Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full-time offers.
  • Top-tier benefits for full-time employees, described as a comprehensive and competitive package available at little to no cost to employees.
