Senior Backend Engineer - Cloud Platform
About The Position
Teleport is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer for its Cloud Platform team, which builds a performant, scalable, and secure cloud platform for Teleport’s SaaS product. The team focuses on scalability, security, and analytics, and builds multi-cluster Kubernetes controllers, networking services, platform monitoring tools, and other platform capabilities. The engineer will tackle problems involving networking, performance, security, and integrations with external systems. They will design, develop, and ship high-quality products, primarily using Go, and collaborate closely with other Teleport teams. Example projects include BEAMS, a Cloud Hypervisor-based Kata container agentic runtime platform; multi-cluster Kubernetes operators for managing Teleport at scale; and zero-downtime upgrades for services with long-lived tunnels. The role offers autonomy, collaboration, and opportunities to develop technical expertise.
Requirements
- Extensive experience with Go.
- Strong Kubernetes expertise, including experience writing controllers and extending Kubernetes via APIs.
- Extensive experience developing scalable, reliable, and performant systems.
- Strong software-related security experience and a strong interest in security.
- Proficiency with AWS and other cloud services.
- Linux systems engineering experience.
- Networking experience.
- Intellectual curiosity and willingness to master new technologies.
- Collaborative approach, transparency, honesty, and a no-ego mindset.
- Willingness to collaborate with Teleport engineers on a Go coding challenge as part of the interview process.
Nice To Haves
- Significant open-source contributions.
- Knowledge of Envoy and Cilium.
- Cryptography engineering experience.
Responsibilities
