Cloud backend engineer
About The Position
The Cloud backend engineer will develop and operate cloud-based software and data engineering systems using AWS services and technologies including Glue, S3, Lambda, Step Functions, ECS, and Terraform. The role involves system design, application development, testing, and maintaining operational stability. It also involves building services and APIs, working with distributed systems and microservices, and applying CI/CD, resiliency, and security practices. The position is onsite in Jersey City, New Jersey; local candidates are sought. US citizenship, a Green Card, or GC EAD is preferred. W2 engagement is required; C2C, 1099, and third-party profiles are not accepted.
Requirements
- Must-have skills: AWS Glue, S3, Lambda, Step Functions, ECS, Cassandra, Java, Python, and Terraform.
- Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability within AWS.
- Advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages, including Java or Python.
- Expert-level experience with data engineering technologies and tools such as Apache Kafka, Apache Spark, Cassandra, and ETL processes.
- Experience building services with Spring (Boot) and gRPC APIs.
- Experience with distributed systems, microservices, Kubernetes, and containers.
- Advanced understanding of CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
- Demonstrated proficiency in software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline such as cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, or mobile.
- W2 engagement; C2C, 1099, and third-party profiles are not accepted.
Nice To Haves
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts.
- Five or more years of applied experience.
- AWS Solutions Architect Certification.
- US citizenship, Green Card, or GC EAD is preferred.
