About The Position

MISUMI Americas is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer (Node.js / AWS) to join their team. This role is crucial in building and scaling the systems that run MISUMI's global manufacturing ecosystem. The company is focused on revolutionizing the manufacturing industry, which is largely reliant on outdated methods, by developing a cloud-based, AI-powered digital manufacturing platform. This platform aims to accelerate the process from prototype to production for companies in sectors like electric vehicles, robotics, and next-generation consumer products. The ideal candidate will be passionate about solving complex, real-world problems.

Requirements

5+ years of backend engineering experience
Strong skills in Node.js, JavaScript/TypeScript
Experience building systems on AWS (SQS, Lambda, EC2, RDS, etc.)
Solid understanding of distributed systems and event-driven architectures
Experience designing and maintaining REST or GraphQL APIs
Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases
A commitment to writing unit and integration tests
Knowledge of system design, caching, and security best practices (OWASP Top 10)
Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident (green card holder)

Nice To Haves

AWS certification
Experience with high-scale or business-critical systems

Responsibilities

Design and develop highly available, scalable backend services in AWS
Build and maintain event-driven, asynchronous systems using Node.js
Create robust APIs (REST / GraphQL) powering customer-facing and internal tools
Partner closely with product, frontend, and infrastructure teams to ship features that actually move the business
Contribute to technical design discussions and drive best practices across the team
Debug production issues and improve system reliability
Continuously improve code quality through testing, observability, and documentation
