This role provides senior technical leadership for Azure infrastructure, networking, identity, security, backup and disaster recovery, governance, automation, and monitoring, ensuring the availability, performance, security, and cost-effectiveness of enterprise cloud services. Working closely with infrastructure, cybersecurity, and application teams, the incumbent leads cloud operations, supports enterprise technology initiatives, and drives the adoption of cloud best practices through automation, standardization, and governance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer engineering or a related field.
  • 8+ years’ progressive infrastructure experience.
  • 5+ years’ direct experience of Microsoft Azure Administration in a production environment.
  • Demonstrated depth across Azure compute, storage, backup/DR, and networking, including Application Gateway and WAF administration
  • Strong Microsoft Entra ID administration experience (conditional access, RBAC, enterprise applications)
  • Experience with SCIM-based automated user provisioning/deprovisioning for enterprise applications
  • Experience in healthcare or another regulated industry, with awareness of privacy obligations (e.g., PHIPA/PIPEDA)
  • Experience working with Microsoft Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the senior technical owner for the enterprise Microsoft Azure platform, providing architectural oversight, operational leadership, and technical direction for cloud infrastructure and platform services.
  • Design, implement, and optimize Azure infrastructure services, including compute, storage, networking, identity, and platform services, ensuring scalability, resilience, security, and operational excellence.
  • Lead the administration and continuous improvement of Azure networking, including Virtual Networks, hybrid connectivity, VPN Gateways, DNS, Network Security Groups (NSGs), Application Gateways, and Web Application Firewall (WAF) policies. Develop networking standards and lead complex troubleshooting and performance optimization initiatives.
  • Own the enterprise Microsoft Entra ID platform, including identity governance, Conditional Access, RBAC, Enterprise Applications, App Registrations, Privileged Identity Management (PIM), and identity lifecycle automation.
  • Design and maintain SCIM-based provisioning to support a cloud-first identity strategy and Zero Trust security model.
  • Lead operational monitoring, observability, and service reliability initiatives using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and native Azure management tools.
  • Drive root cause analysis, problem management, and continual service improvement while serving as the senior escalation point for critical cloud incidents.
  • Provide technical leadership for regarding Sienna’s transition from standalone Power BI to Microsoft Fabric.
  • Lead enterprise backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity capabilities using Azure Backup and Azure Site Recovery. Define recovery strategies, validate RTO/RPO objectives, lead recovery testing, and contribute to organizational disaster recovery planning.
  • Develop and enforce Azure governance standards, including Azure Policy, management groups, resource organization, tagging strategies, landing zone standards, and cost governance. Continuously optimize cloud consumption through right-sizing, Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, and Azure Hybrid Benefit while providing executive-level reporting and recommendations.
  • Design and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation solutions using PowerShell and Azure-native tooling to improve consistency, scalability, operational efficiency, and platform reliability. Establish engineering standards, reusable templates, and automation frameworks.
  • Partner with Cybersecurity, Enterprise Architecture, and Infrastructure teams to implement secure-by-design cloud solutions, lead vulnerability remediation efforts, support regulatory compliance, and strengthen the organization's cloud security posture within a regulated healthcare environment.
  • Evaluate emerging Azure technologies and platform capabilities, providing technical recommendations that align with enterprise architecture, business strategy, and cloud modernization objectives.
  • Serve as the organization's senior Azure subject matter expert, providing technical leadership, architectural guidance, and mentorship to infrastructure and systems administration teams while fostering cloud engineering best practices.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of enterprise cloud standards, architecture documentation, operational runbooks, and standard operating procedures to support operational maturity and knowledge transfer.
  • Provide technical leadership on enterprise cloud initiatives and strategic transformation projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and support secure, scalable, and resilient cloud solutions.
  • Partner with IT leadership to develop and execute the organization's Azure cloud roadmap, contributing to strategic planning, platform modernization, technology evaluation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
