About The Position

Our client in Paulsboro, NJ, is seeking an experienced Senior Automation & Instrumentation Technician to support automated packaging and production systems in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment. This is a Direct Hire position with a schedule of Monday through Friday, 7AM-3:30PM (overtime is required). During training the pay rate for this role is $41.30/hr, once fully trained this role will offer $47.64/hr. This is a hands-on position that focuses on PLC troubleshooting, packaging line optimization, instrumentation reliability and safe execution of work in a live process facility.

Requirements

  • Must have prior experience supporting automated packaging or production lines in an industrial environment
  • Must be comfortable working overtime when needed.
  • Previous experience with hands-on troubleshooting experience with PLC-controlled equipment
  • Demonstrated ability to correct packaging line performance issues involving sensors, drives, logic, or controls
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with the ability to read industrial documentation
  • Proven safety record and experience working under structured industrial safety systems
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with high-speed packaging, filling, blending, or material handling systems
  • Background in instrumentation, I&E, controls, or industrial electronics
  • Trade school certification or related training
  • Experience in refining, chemical, food & beverage, pharmaceutical, or similar industries

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair PLC-controlled packaging and production equipment (ladder logic, drives, controls)
  • Resolve packaging line performance issues involving sensors, actuators, logic, and drives
  • Support high-speed packaging, filling, blending, and material handling systems to reduce downtime
  • Maintain and calibrate industrial instrumentation (pressure, flow, level, temperature, valves, load cells, photo eyes)
  • Support inline blenders, tank gauging systems, air compressors, and dryers
  • Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation
  • Maintain qualification on all production equipment and collaborate with maintenance and operations teams
  • Perform work under permit systems, including lockout/tagout and electrical safe work practices
  • Adhere to PPE requirements and HMI-related safe work practices
