About The Position

This position is responsible for continually searching for methods of improving, writing, and/or designing programs from automated police files. The analyst will assess data systems architecture for accessibility impacts and opportunities for enhancements to improve information access, CADS (Motorola Computer Aided Dispatch System), RMS (Motorola Police Records Management System), UKG Telestaff, Police Information Data Warehouse (PODS), and other related data sources. The role involves developing, maintaining, and enhancing information reports and dashboards using SQL, Power BI, and other tools to monitor key department performance measures. The analyst will also create and maintain system manuals, stay updated on new information system/software products, and ensure accurate information distribution. This position is part of an approved Career Development Plan (CDP) offering career progression and salary incentives based on performance, qualifications, and experience. The role is considered Critical Safety Sensitive and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing. It also requires successfully passing a stringent criminal background check due to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice’s “Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy”.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science, business administration, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Three years of experience in the implementation and support of business information systems.
  • Considerable knowledge of concepts of microcomputer technology and related software.
  • Considerable knowledge of principles of office automation systems.
  • Ability to analyze difficult business problems for potential automation solutions.
  • Ability to lead and/or coordinate large automation projects.
  • Ability to document processes and procedures and develop training documentation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer and related software and other standard office equipment.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to supervise lower level technical and non-technical staff.
  • Must be a US citizen or be a lawful permanent resident eligible for naturalization.
  • Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.
  • Successfully passing a more stringent criminal background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Microsoft SQL, Python, Business Intelligence Tools, and data visualization.
  • Ability to analyze multiple data sources on both a department and enterprise level for the purpose of leveraging data and informing staff in new and innovative ways.

Responsibilities

  • Understand, comprehend, and when needed, create manuals pertaining to various systems in the police department.
  • Stay up to date with new information system/software products and ensure accurate information is being distributed and accessed department wide.
