Sr. Audit Associate

WFFA AdvisorsFloral Park, NY
Hybrid

About The Position

WFFA is adding a Senior Audit Associate to its audit practice on Long Island. This is a hands-on role working directly with the partners on attest engagements from planning through wrap-up, with real ownership of the work rather than one narrow slice of it. The mix is roughly 75% audit and 25% accounting and tax, so the work stays varied and you build a broader skill set than a pure assurance seat offers. Training is available on the accounting and tax side. About 30% of the time is spent at client sites, most of them on Long Island, with the balance in the Floral Park office. The team also runs a workload that stays reasonable throughout the year, including the first quarter, which is not something every firm can say.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5+ years of audit and accounting experience in public accounting
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field preferred
  • CPA or actively working toward the CPA preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP and audit methodology, with the ability to own sections of an engagement with limited oversight
  • Interest in working across audit, accounting, and tax; candidates with a purely audit background will also be considered
  • Experience with QuickBooks and general ledger systems
  • Familiarity with CCH Engagement and CCH tax applications is a plus
  • Ability to commute to the Floral Park office and travel to client sites on Long Island

Responsibilities

  • Perform fieldwork on audits, reviews, and compilations, from planning and risk assessment through testing and wrap-up
  • Prepare and maintain engagement binders and supporting workpapers
  • Draft financial statements and related footnote disclosures
  • Test account balances and transaction cycles, document findings, and clear open items with client personnel
  • Work on site at client locations across Long Island
  • Take on accounting work outside of assurance, including general ledger review, adjusting entries, and client bookkeeping support
  • Assist with tax work during slower attest periods
  • Report findings and open issues to the audit partners, taking on more engagement ownership over time
  • Help develop less experienced staff as the audit team grows

Benefits

  • Competitive base salary
  • Discretionary annual bonus tied to firm and individual performance
  • Benefits plan
