About The Position

The Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) is Florida’s chief health policy and planning entity. The Agency is responsible for the oversight and administration of the Florida Medicaid program, the licensure and regulation of nearly 50,000 health care facilities and empowering consumers through health care transparency initiatives and ensuring the safety of Florida’s most vulnerable citizens. Under the direction of Agency Secretary Shevaun L. Requirements

  • Two years of professional experience in the practice of law, legal research, legal writing, teaching law or in administrative or judicial hearings.
  • Florida Bar License

Responsibilities

  • Handle administrative litigation before the DOAH and the Agency on licensure issues pertaining to health care facilities.
  • Assist with legal research in evaluating state statutes and preparation of legal opinions on questions relating to the licensure of various types of medical and long-term care facilities.
  • Prepare and draft routine pleadings, briefs, agreements, and related legal documents pertaining to licensure.
  • Provide legal counsel on behalf of the Agency on legal matters related to the licensure program; interprets state and federal legislation related to facilities licensure matters.
  • Perform legal research concerning the interpretation of Florida Statutes and the Florida Administrative Code on health care facilities licensure matters in question.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
