About The Position

Sensient Technologies is seeking a Senior Attorney to join its collaborative in-house legal team in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The role focuses on complex, high-profile global litigation and provides opportunities to influence strategic decisions, strengthen business partnerships, and develop litigation expertise. The position is 100% office based, onsite five days per week, and reports to the Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary. The Senior Attorney oversees and helps resolve litigation involving commercial, intellectual property, workers’ compensation, and other disputes worldwide. The attorney also advises business units on resolving claims before litigation, works with outside counsel on litigation strategy and case management, supports compliance and litigation-avoidance efforts, assists with internal investigations, monitors relevant legal developments, and ensures litigation strategies align with company values, risk tolerance, and business objectives. The role also involves exposure to other legal areas, including contract review and business counseling.

Requirements

JD degree from an accredited law school.
License to practice law in the United States.
5–7 years of litigation experience.
Highly developed negotiation skills.
Ability to develop and closely manage case budgets and outside counsel spending.
Highly developed written and oral communication skills, including the ability to explain complex legal issues and recommendations plainly to non-lawyers.
Excellent management skills and business judgment, with a well-developed ability to make decisions.
Understanding of overall business objectives and the risks and rewards of situations in order to provide sound, practical counsel.
Proactive, takes initiative, and aims to complete work with minimal direction.
Must be authorized to work in the United States without employment visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

Oversee, direct, and help resolve commercial, intellectual property, workers’ compensation, and other disputes around the world.
Counsel business units on resolving claims short of litigation.
Work with outside counsel to develop litigation strategy, manage case budgets, review discovery, prepare witnesses for deposition and trial, and attend settlement conferences, mediations, and arbitrations.
Support the Company’s compliance program and litigation-avoidance efforts.
Support internal investigations related to legal claims or potential litigation exposure.
Monitor legal trends and developments that may affect litigation or liability risk.
Ensure litigation strategies align with Sensient’s values, risk tolerance, and business objectives.
Provide support in other areas of law, including contract review and business counseling.
