The Authorization Gateway (Auth GW) is Capital One’s front door to the world of payments. When customers use their cards, an authorization request is sent through a complex web of systems and technologies. This request changes hands multiple times between payment industry players like issuers, networks, and merchant acquiring banks. With the Auth GW, Capital One is able to both ingest authorizations from networks or directly connect to a merchant’s point of sale, circumventing other players and vertically integrating more deeply into the payments stack. As the Product Owner of the Authorization Gateway, you are responsible for planning and delivering on the vision, strategy, and roadmap of the platform. Day-to-day, you will split your time between one of our sprint teams and our platform’s customers within the broader business. You will own the roadmap and our platform’s product delivery. You will work with our engineering teams to deliver work flawlessly, and you will work with our customers to make sure that work aligns deeply with their business priorities. You will embrace a customer-centric approach to drive value to our platform’s internal and external users.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or military experience
  • At least 1 year of product management experience or at least 1 year of experience in product design, agile delivery, business analysis, data science, or software engineering

Responsibilities

  • Craft and deliver an ongoing product roadmap that furthers the platforms long-term goals and priorities
  • Direct, prioritize, and troubleshoot product work across development teams, with a focus on technological problem solving and team engagement
  • Manage a diverse set of business stakeholders to generate buy-in, momentum, and excitement for the platform
  • Ensure flawless execution and iterative value delivery with your engineering teams
  • Collaborate with tech teams to build comprehensive acceptance criteria, identifying and elevating any need for additional research to define future feature design
  • Breakdown business epics into features and further into user stories, driving your team towards lowest effort or Minimal Viable Product (MVP) for a valid feature test
  • Effectively use hypothesis-driven assessment of data to ensure your product or feature delivers on real business needs
  • Own and prioritize feature development roadmaps, ensuring all necessary processes and procedures are followed to manage risk
  • Conduct research and develop features that utilize new and evolving technology
  • Collaborate with designers, technologists, data scientists and subject-matter experts to build cutting edge solutions to help customers
  • Deliver well-managed product platforms for customers by seeking to understand technology trends and architecture strategy
  • Actively participate in horizontal forums, harness a network of trusted relationships among tech teams, designers, key internal stakeholders and partner teams
