About The Position

We're hiring a Senior Associate to join Bessemer's growth investing team based in San Francisco. You will be focused on AI apps, infrastructure, defense, techbio, energy, and various other roadmaps. You'll work directly with Byron Deeter and collaborate with partners and investors across the firm to find and back the companies building the foundational layers of the next era of software. Growth investing is won long before a round comes together. Access comes from knowing a business deeply, building genuine relationships with leadership, and being consistently useful well before there's a deal to discuss. That takes real work: staying on top of companies, getting on planes, showing up prepared, and following through on the small things. We're looking for someone who is energized by that work. The role combines relationship building with analytical depth. As a "full stack" investor, you'll work across the entire investment lifecycle: Thesis development: Go deep on the markets we care about and help create and refine the roadmaps that guide where the team spends its time. Sourcing: Map the companies that matter, track their trajectories, and build relationships with founders and executives years before they raise. Due diligence: Lead financial modeling, cohort and retention analysis, market sizing, customer calls, and competitive work on live deals. Investment recommendations: Synthesize your work into a clear point of view and present it as we make decisions. Portfolio support: Help our companies with KPIs, board preparation, key introductions, and follow-on financings.

Requirements

  • 3–6+ years of experience, ideally in investment banking, consulting, private equity, growth equity, high-growth startups, or traditional venture capital.
  • Strong financial modeling, valuation, and company analysis skills. You can go from a messy data room to a defensible view.
  • Genuine interest in software and AI: you use the latest products and have opinions on where things are headed.
  • Natural relationship builder, great at connecting with founders, executives, and co-investors.
  • Naturally hardworking, humble, independent thinking, being a fast learner and a proactive doer.
  • In it to win it: this role requires regular travel, late nights, and intense sprints — founder dinners, conferences, and trips are a normal part of the job.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior venture experience is a plus but not required.
