About The Position
CNBC is seeking an experienced financial news editor for its Markets and premium team, focusing on equities and investing. The role requires a candidate skilled in editing stories about stock and market movements, investing trends, and news-driven investment developments. The ideal candidate will possess extensive editing experience, a broad understanding of financial markets and company financials, strong communication skills for providing constructive feedback, and experience managing a team of reporters, including assigning stories and overseeing their publication.
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years editing experience in financial news.
- Minimum 3 years managing direct reports.
- Strong knowledge of various financial markets.
- Editing for speed and quality.
- Solid communication, providing positive feedback.
- Experience managing a team of journalists.
Nice To Haves
- BA/BS in Business, Journalism, or related field.
- Deep interest in business news and financial markets.
- Experience covering breaking news in competitive environments.

Responsibilities
- Edit multiple fast stories a day on financial markets.
- Assign and edit stories about investing.
- Edit investing newsletters.
- Edit enterprise pieces with a longer turnaround, working with reporters to build an engaging narrative.
- Work with reporters to develop story ideas and guide them in building stories with proper quotes, facts, and visuals.
- Spot market trends and identify stories for the team to cover.
