About The Position

This position is a hybrid role - Tuesday - Thursday in the NY Office, Monday & Friday work from home. The Senior Associate (PF3) - Separate Accounts (FP&A) will review monthly and quarterly account reconciliations, journal entries, and trend analysis for investment and insurance activities related to the NYLIAC and NYL Separate Accounts. The role involves performing analytical review of monthly and quarterly investment and insurance activity, supporting the preparation and review of annual Separate Account Statutory statements and other regulatory filings, and reviewing Statutory accounting disclosures and footnotes. Additionally, the position will review monthly and quarterly internal management reports, provide value-add analysis, participate in special projects and ad hoc requests, and review work completed by offshore accounting staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field with 3–5+ years of experience in investment accounting, financial reporting, accounting operations, or related finance functions.
  • Knowledge of financial controls, SOX/MARS requirements, and best practice review processes.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial results, identify trends and variances, and communicate key business drivers and insights.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience leveraging technology, automation, and AI-enabled tools to improve efficiency, enhance analysis, strengthen documentation, and support decision-making.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities to streamline processes, reduce manual effort, improve controls, and enhance reporting effectiveness.
  • Self-motivated professional with strong interpersonal skills, sound judgment, professionalism, and integrity.
  • Adaptable, curious, and open to learning new tools, technologies, processes, and ways of working.
  • Excellent organizational, multitasking, and prioritization skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of life insurance industry accounting, Statutory accounting principles, and/or insurance Separate Accounts is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Analysis for Office, Wings, SAP, or similar financial reporting and accounting systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Review monthly and quarterly account reconciliations, journal entries, and trend analysis for investment and insurance activities related to the NYLIAC and NYL Separate Accounts, with a focus on accuracy, reasonableness, and key business drivers.
  • Perform analytical review of monthly and quarterly investment and insurance activity, identifying trends, variances, and items requiring follow-up.
  • Support the preparation and review of the annual Separate Account Statutory statements and other regulatory filings.
  • Review Statutory accounting disclosures and footnotes, including supporting analysis and documentation.
  • Review monthly and quarterly internal management reports and provide value-add analysis to support financial reporting and management decision-making.
  • Participate in special projects and ad hoc requests, including process improvement, automation, reporting enhancements, and other value-add initiatives.
  • Review work completed by offshore accounting staff and provide timely feedback to support accuracy, consistency, development, and continued process improvement.
