About The Position

Glasslake is a rapidly growing mortgage lender. Since the start of our operations in 2023, we have expanded presence across Canada in Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia. We plan to have operations from coast-to-coast and are currently expanding our mortgage lending footprint across the country. We are seeking an experienced Senior Associate, Commercial Originations to support these efforts. The successful candidate will be well versed in provincial and federal regulatory, and operation matters for the business and enjoy building an operation from the ground up. The ideal candidate will be able to navigate in a fast-paced, evolving environment, set achievable milestones and build meaningful connections both internally and externally with key stakeholders. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 5-7 years of experience in commercial real estate finance, with a strong track record of originating CRE debt transactions.
  • Proven ability to independently source and close transactions in a competitive environment.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with strong business development capabilities.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to identify and capitalize on market opportunities.
  • High degree of professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated expertise across multiple CRE debt products and property types.
  • Deep network of industry relationships, including sponsors, brokers, and capital partners.
  • Strong financial analysis, underwriting, and structuring skills.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • Source and originate CRE debt opportunities across multiple product types, including senior mortgages, mezzanine loans, bridge financing, construction loans, and structured credit solutions.
  • Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of opportunities across all major property types, including office, multifamily, industrial, retail, hospitality, life sciences, and specialty assets.
  • Establish and deepen relationships with sponsors, developers, owners, brokers, and other market participants nationwide.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities through proactive outreach, networking, and market intelligence.
  • Support the structuring, underwriting, and negotiation of loan terms, ensuring alignment with firm strategy and risk parameters.
  • Partner with internal underwriting and credit teams to evaluate transactions, including financial analysis, market assessment, and sponsor review.
  • Present investment opportunities to Canadian executive and internal Bayview committees and stakeholders, clearly articulating risk/return profile and key considerations.
  • Maintain deep knowledge of national CRE markets, including trends in capital flows, pricing, and credit conditions.
  • Provide strategic insights on target markets, asset classes, and product types to inform origination strategy.
  • Monitor competitive landscape and identify opportunities to differentiate the platform.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, delivering tailored financing solutions and maintaining long-term relationships.
  • Collaborate with senior management to align origination activity with available capital and investment mandates.
  • Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and client meetings.
  • Work cross-functionally with the underwriting, asset management, legal, and capital markets teams to ensure efficient deal execution and portfolio performance.
  • Contribute to portfolio construction by aligning originations with diversification and risk management goals.
