The Senior Assembly Design Resident Engineer demonstrates accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. In this role you will integrate and develop processes that meet strategic business needs, manage complex issues within functional area(s) of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy for Assembly. This position requires cross-functional collaboration with the Assembly counterparts to improve the producibility, quality, and delivery. Qualified candidates for this hands-on role will identify areas of improvements to both GE processes and procedures in the areas of Engineering, Supply Chain Quality, and Manufacturing. The role involves acting as an on-site engineering liaison to improve communication and cooperation between engineering and supply chain, working with shops, suppliers, and engineering colleagues to meet producibility and process capability targets. As the shop engineering representative, the engineer will drive a high rigor into the manufacturing and design integration process and identify and drive manufacturing support activities to ensure long term on-time engine delivery. This includes executing the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements, specifically mechanical engineering for all products within the manufacturing site's purview. The position requires a high level of judgment for decision-making and handling complex tasks in operational, product management, manufacturing, technology, or engineering areas, with significant interaction with engineers from multiple disciplines, manufacturing & quality, and exposure to commodity and industry experts. The engineer will use engineering judgment and experience to challenge entrenched processes and methodology to recommend improvements, and utilize in-depth knowledge of engineering & manufacturing, analytical thinking, and technical experience to execute technically complex projects under limited oversight. The role also involves leading technical projects of moderate to high complexity through collaboration with field and industry experts, explaining information, developing skills to bring team members to consensus, conveying performance expectations, and potentially handling sensitive issues. The Senior Engineer will also act as a mentor and provide technical oversight for less experienced colleagues.
