About The Position

Assembles subassemblies, products, or systems following blueprints and other written and verbal specifications. Performs balancing operations and more complex or seldom run operations. Ability to complete more intricate visual inspection and hand deburring processing. This role involves performing all the duties of an Assembler, with additional responsibilities for setting up specialized equipment and handling more complex tasks. The Senior Assembler is expected to demonstrate strong attention to detail, quality, and productivity, while also adhering to safety procedures. They may also be involved in training coworkers and supporting new process development.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • 3 – 5 years of electro-mechanical assembly experience.
  • Ability to use basic precision measuring equipment, such as micrometer, vernier, multimeter.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience operating drill press and milling machines.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to present numerical data effectively and write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems in standard situations.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Possess Basic Computer skills.
  • Regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • Frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to sit.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include Close vision and Depth perception.

  • VoTech Trade School is a plus.
  • Certificate from Community College Advanced Manufacturing program preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs all of the duties of an Assembler, including reading op sheets, following production drawings, positioning and aligning parts, crimping, staking, screwing, bolting, cementing, press fitting, installing moving parts, assembling hardware, performing intermediate assembly tasks, visual and mechanical inspection, deburring, operating Laser Engraver, supporting job pulls/kits, testing product operation, working in an assembly cell, shifting workstations, transporting material, operating hoists, packing parts, participating in Continuous Improvement/5S projects, training coworkers, and completing basic reworks.
  • Sets up Laser Engraver operations.
  • Sets up and operates balancing and other types of equipment.
  • Uses drill press or hand tools to deburr, drill, tap, ream, or burnish features on more difficult/tighter tolerance parts.
  • Performs part straightening operations using chucks, presses and indicators.
  • Performs balancing process, including setting up and running milling machines, using various tools for drilling, sanding, polishing, and deburring, and operating balancing machines.
  • Completes more intricate visual inspection (vision system/microscope) and deburring processing.
  • Completes more complex reworks per instruction.
  • Completes production on seldom run/low volume product.
  • Works with Manufacturing Engineer on new process development operations to create instructions and time standards.
  • Enters all time, part count, and quality documentation into required computer systems.
