About The Position

Saab, Inc. in East Syracuse, NY is seeking an experienced Senior Assembler to join the Manufacturing and Production team. Responsibilities include: Work from wire diagrams, engineering drawings (blueprints), sketches, and written or oral instructions to create initial layouts and accurately assemble products. Use hand and power tools as required to complete assemblies. Disassemble, modify, rework, and reassemble production or prototype assemblies and subassemblies according to specifications. Apply advanced electrical and mechanical assembly concepts to resolve complex issues and support company objectives. Understand and apply ESD principles and safeguarding requirements. Properly use hand tools such as torque wrenches, wire cutters, strippers, and crimpers. Independently identify and resolve assigned tasks. Operate equipment including fork trucks, automotive lifts, ladders, lifting platforms, and cranes. May require limited travel, up to 10% annually.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 4+ years of relevant assembly or manufacturing experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret work instructions and assembly drawings.
  • Ability to work with materials ranging from small, intricate components to larger, heavier parts.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Applicants selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • Candidates will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working on manufacturing flow lines with multiple team members.
  • Background in automotive mechanics or a related field.
  • Comfortable operating automated equipment with an understanding of mechanical assembly and process flow.
  • Experience that may include advanced support skills and extensive knowledge of tools, software, and related technologies.
