About The Position

Rexford Industrial Realty, Inc. (NYSE: REXR) is a leading, publicly traded industrial real estate investment and management company operating a $14 Billion industrial real estate portfolio. We are seeking a Senior Designer to join Rexford's internal Design Team, supporting our vertically integrated platform of Construction Management, Property Management, Acquisitions, Leasing, Asset Management, and Marketing professionals. Working closely with a Design Manager within an assigned regional portfolio, the Senior Designer independently leads the development and coordination of architectural solutions supporting leasing initiatives, redevelopment projects, tenant improvements, capital projects, property repositioning, and marketing initiatives across Rexford's portfolio. This role is ideal for an experienced design professional who combines strong technical capability with sound judgment, ownership, curiosity, and a collaborative mindset. The successful candidate anticipates challenges, works through problems independently, brings forward thoughtful recommendations, and understands when collaboration or escalation is needed to maintain project momentum and support broader business objectives. As a Senior Designer, you will help shape the physical product while connecting design decisions to broader project and business objectives. You will also serve as a resource to less-experienced team members and contribute to stronger standards, processes, and execution across Rexford's Design Team.

Requirements

  • 5-9 years of relevant experience within an architectural practice, design firm, commercial real estate organization, or similar design and construction environment. Level placement will reflect demonstrated experience and capability.
  • Demonstrated experience leading architectural/design work from scoping and conceptual design through construction documents and construction administration.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating consultants, contractors, vendors, and cross-functional project stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of architectural drawing production, detailing, multidisciplinary coordination, constructability, quality control, and documentation processes.
  • Strong working knowledge of building codes, zoning regulations, accessibility requirements, life-safety requirements, and construction terminology.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Microsoft Excel, and Adobe Creative Suite.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Architectural Technology, Engineering, Construction Management, Interior Architecture/Design, or a related design/building discipline preferred, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant professional experience.
  • Industrial, commercial, tenant improvement, redevelopment, or repositioning project experience preferred.
  • Experience with SketchUp or similar 3D visualization software preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Independently develop and coordinate architectural solutions through multiple project phases, including conceptual design, scoping, pricing, marketing, lease exhibits, entitlement, permitting, construction documents, and construction administration.
  • Produce and review accurate, organized, coordinated, and constructible drawing packages that align with company standards and project objectives.
  • Perform multidisciplinary quality-control reviews and identify missing scope, conflicts, constructability concerns, code issues, and downstream impacts before they affect project delivery.
  • Apply strong working knowledge of building codes, zoning, accessibility, life safety, existing building conditions, and construction practices to support sound design decisions.
  • Develop practical design solutions that balance quality, cost, schedule, constructability, leasing objectives, operations, and long-term asset value.
  • Independently lead multiple concurrent design workstreams and projects, maintaining accountability for scope, deliverables, schedules, commitments, and follow-through.
  • Coordinate consultants, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders throughout design and construction; drive open issues toward resolution rather than relying on others to manage follow-up.
  • Anticipate project risks and coordination challenges, gather relevant information, evaluate options, and bring forward clear recommendations.
  • Recognize when independent resolution is appropriate and when collaboration, leadership input, or escalation is necessary to protect project objectives.
  • Support entitlement, permitting, bidding, and construction administration efforts, including site visits, field verification, submittits, shop drawings, RFIs, sketches, and drawing revisions.
  • Partner effectively with Construction Management, Property Management, Leasing, Acquisitions, Asset Management, and Marketing to understand priorities and support broader business objectives.
  • Communicate clearly, directly, and respectfully with internal and external stakeholders; surface risks early and provide appropriate context, options, and recommendations.
  • Understand how design decisions affect project cost, schedule, leasing strategy, asset operations, risk, and long-term value, and incorporate those considerations into recommendations.
  • Navigate competing priorities and differing perspectives constructively, helping teams reach practical, well-informed decisions.
  • Build trust through responsiveness, reliability, sound judgment, professionalism, and consistent follow-through.
  • Serve as a technical and project resource to Designers; share knowledge, lessons learned, and context that helps others build capability and independence.
  • Provide thoughtful peer review and informal coaching without assuming formal people-management responsibility.
  • Identify opportunities to improve standards, workflows, templates, quality, and team execution; actively participate in implementing improvements.
  • Model openness to feedback, continuous learning, shared accountability, and constructive problem solving.
  • Contribute to an environment where team members can ask questions, challenge ideas respectfully, learn from mistakes, and work toward shared outcomes.
