We are hiring founding team members. This is a unique opportunity to join a new architecture practice launching under an established developer with a built-in project pipeline from day one. Elmington is a Nashville based company providing comprehensive residential and commercial services through a collaborative, partnership driven approach. The firm specializes in affordable and multifamily housing, with over 35 projects completed nationwide. In this role, you’ll play a key role in shaping the firm’s design standards, workflows, and culture while working directly with decision makers on active, real-world projects. The Project Architect will oversee multiple affordable multi-family projects from start to finish, coordinating design, scheduling, and construction to ensure on-time, compliant and on-budget delivery that aligns with Elmington’s standards and overall vision. All activities will be performed in support of our values: Integrity ~ Precision ~ Growth ~ Driven ~ Relationships POSITION SUMMARY: The Architectural Designer supports the planning, design and documentation of architectural projects from concept through construction. Working closely with Project Architects and Project Managers, this role contributes to design development, construction documents, and coordination with consultants while maintaining project schedules, quality standards, and firm design intent. The Architectural Designer balances creativity with technical rigor and plays a key role in translating design concepts into buildable, code compliant solutions. The position offers a clear growth path, providing opportunities to advance toward Senior Architectural Designer or Project Architect roles, and supports professional development toward Architectural Licensure.

Requirements

Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Lumion or Enscape and Adobe Creative Suite.
Basic understanding of building codes, zoning regulations, and construction documentation.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
Detail oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Ability to generate and develop design concepts that align with the project goals and firm standards.
Experience coordinating with consultants, engineers, or contractors during the design or documentation process.
Professional degree in Architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch) from an accredited program.
2-5 years of professional experience in an architecture firm, preferably working on multi-family residential projects.
Proficiency in industry standard software, including Revit, AutoCAD, and Adobe Creative Suite; experience with SketchUp is a plus.
Strong understanding of building codes, construction documentation, and design development processes.
Experience collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams, including consultants, engineers, and contractors, throughout the project lifecycle.
Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, Lumion or Enscape
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and standard office productivity tools for documentation, reporting, project management and project coordination.

Responsibilities

Develop and refine architectural design concepts in collaboration with Project Architects and design teams.
Produce Conceptual and Schematic designs, design development drawings, and construction documents for multi-family residential projects.
Prepare digital models and renderings to communicate design intent to clients, consultants, and internal teams.
Ensure all designs comply with building codes, zoning regulations, accessibility standards, and other applicable requirements.
Coordinate with engineers, consultants, and contractors to integrate structural, MEP, and other systems into architectural designs.
Assist in preparing presentation materials, including boards, and digital presentations.
Review and annotate construction drawings, submittals, and shop drawings for accuracy and compliance with design intent.
Participate in site visits and construction observation to monitor project progress and quality.
Maintain project documentation, file organization, and internal project tracking systems.
Contribute to continuous improvement of office design standards, workflows, and best practices.
