About The Position

Aimpoint Digital is a fully remote data and analytics consultancy that works with software providers to help clients solve complex business problems through data engineering and analytical solutions. The Senior Applications Engineer partners with clients across industries, advising stakeholders from data owners and analytics users to C-level executives on application needs. The role builds and maintains end-to-end web applications and backend systems, helps improve clients’ processes and data-driven decision-making, and contributes to the development of Aimpoint Digital’s practice. The engineer may work independently on client engagements or collaborate with a small project team, participate in business development, and contribute ideas and initiatives. The position is fully remote within the US and COL. Atlanta-based applicants may work from the company’s new headquarters in Sandy Springs, Georgia.

Requirements

Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent experience.
Experience managing stakeholders and collaborating with customers.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
At least 4 years of application-development experience across frontend and backend.
Proven experience as a Web Developer, Mobile Developer, Applications Engineer, Software Engineer, or in a similar role.
Proficiency in React or a comparable design framework.
Strong knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
Proficiency in at least one backend language, preferably Python, Java, C#, or Golang, and ability to learn new languages, tools, and frameworks.
Familiarity with developing RESTful APIs.
Knowledge of web-development security practices.
Understanding of version-control systems.
Experience with CI/CD, testing frameworks, and production release processes.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Ability to manage an individual workstream independently and manage a small 1–2-person team.
Expertise in software-engineering concepts and best practices.
Experience using AI-assisted development tools, such as Codex or Claude Code, as part of a development workflow.
Consulting experience.

Nice To Haves

Experience with additional frameworks such as Angular, Svelte, React-Native, Swift, or Kotlin.
Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational database systems such as Postgres, MySQL, Cassandra, Elasticsearch, or Redis.
Experience with modern data platforms, preferably Databricks or Snowflake.
Experience with code instrumentation, monitoring, and observability systems.
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, and container technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

Advise clients on how to best solve their application needs, working with stakeholders ranging from data owners and analytical users to C-level executives.
Develop, test, and maintain web applications using React, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
Collaborate with design and product teams to implement user-friendly, visually appealing interfaces.
Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and backend systems, including CRUD applications and integrations with external APIs.
Optimize applications for speed and scalability.
Troubleshoot and debug issues to improve application performance and user experience.
Stay current with emerging web-development technologies and best practices.
Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to development standards.
Contribute to technical documentation and user guides.
Work independently on client engagements or collaborate with a small team on project delivery.
Contribute to the development of the practice, assist with business development, and offer innovative ideas and initiatives.
Manage an individual workstream independently and, as needed, manage a small team of 1–2 people.
