About The Position

GE Vernova is seeking a Senior Application Engineer with expertise in technical solution design, system integration, and cost estimation for large-scale EPC and extended Balance of Plant scopes involving VFD systems, STATCOM, and synchronous condenser technologies. The role supports the technical and commercial positioning of offerings during complex tenders by developing integrated solutions, assessing risks, and preparing accurate cost estimates and technical proposals. The engineer will lead technical tender reviews and responses, conduct remote or on-site surveys, develop system architectures, define requirements and interfaces, coordinate with OEMs and sub-suppliers, and support commercial teams with technical and costing information. The role also includes customer presentations, risk mitigation, and improving internal standards and practices. Travel domestically and internationally may be required up to 30% of the time. • At least 10 years of experience relevant to the role.
  • Experience in project engineering, application engineering, or technical sales support for high-power electrical equipment, with a strong focus on VFD systems, STATCOM, or synchronous condensers.
  • In-depth knowledge of power electronics, power system dynamics, grid codes, and international standards relevant to these applications.
  • Experience with large-scale EPC tenders and a deep understanding of extended Balance of Plant scope in power plants, renewable energy, or heavy industrial facilities.
  • Practical understanding of how site constraints and procedures affect overall project cost.
  • Strong understanding of control systems, communication protocols, and network architectures.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and P&IDs, and extrapolate costing information accurately.
  • Experience with cost estimation methodologies, quotation preparation, and technical-commercial negotiations for complex electrical systems.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking skills, including developing cost-effective tender solutions.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
