Learn more about our growing team at apollomd.com . We’re looking for a senior, hands-on developer to design, build, and support applications that power core healthcare workflows and internal tools. This is a high-ownership role on a small, fast-moving team. You’ll work closely with product, clinical, and engineering stakeholders to take ideas from concept to production. The ideal candidate is a technically strong leader who is pragmatic, comfortable with ambiguity, and able to independently drive initiatives from concept through production support. This role partners with the Director of Technology Delivery & Innovation, business stakeholders, IT Operations, Data Management, and external vendors to deliver scalable, secure, and reliable solutions. The role operates within a hybrid on-prem and cloud environment, ensuring applications integrate with enterprise ELT pipelines and align with established data architecture standards that support trusted analytics, automation, and AI-enabled decision-making.

Requirements

  • Proven ability to deliver production-grade software in a professional environment (typically 5+ years)
  • Strong experience building backend or full-stack applications
  • Comfortable working in modern web stacks (ideally TypeScript/Node.js, Postgres, REST APIs)
  • Experience working with cloud platforms (e.g., GCP, Azure, AWS)
  • Experience utilizing AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Tabnine, Claude Code).
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies and adapt to evolving systems
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to operate with partial or ambiguous requirements
  • Effective communication and ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical stakeholders

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with healthcare systems or integrations (e.g., HL7, X12, FHIR, eligibility workflows)
  • Experience building systems that support analytics, automation, or AI-driven features
  • Familiarity with data pipelines, ELT/ETL concepts, or tools like Snowflake/dbt; understanding of Medallion architecture standards (Bronze, Silver, Gold) and data governance practices
  • Experience in startup or high-growth environments
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and modern deployment workflows

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain backend and full-stack applications supporting healthcare and business workflows, with equal emphasis on ongoing reliability and maintenance as on speed of delivery
  • Translate loosely defined requirements into clear technical approaches and shipped features
  • Contribute across the application lifecycle from design through production support in a collaborative, PR-driven environment
  • Participate in architecture and design discussions with a focus on simplicity, scalability, and maintainability
  • Provide technical leadership in cross-functional discussions and architecture decisions, serving as a trusted resource for engineering, product, and clinical stakeholders
  • Participate in Agile development practices, CI/CD pipelines, version control, and change management processes to ensure structured, repeatable delivery
  • Identify opportunities to automate workflows and reduce operational overhead
  • Leverage AI tools (e.g., Claude, Codex) to accelerate development, debugging, and iteration
  • Build systems that support intelligent workflows, data-driven features, and internal tooling
  • Design and maintain integrations with third-party vendors and internal systems
  • Build and support APIs, background jobs, and data pipelines that power core product functionality
  • Collaborate with data and operations teams to ensure systems align with analytics and reporting needs
  • Work with healthcare-related integrations where applicable (e.g., eligibility, messaging, EHR interfaces)
  • Adhere to and help enforce data governance standards, ensuring data integrity, access controls, and compliance across all application and integration touchpoints
  • Partner with IT Operations and Data Management teams to align application outputs with ELT pipelines, Medallion architecture standards (Bronze, Silver, Gold), and analytics needs
  • Support data interfaces including imports, monitoring, troubleshooting, and ongoing maintenance to ensure consistent, trusted data flows
  • Write and review code with an emphasis on clarity, correctness, long-term maintainability, and ongoing system health
  • Debug and resolve issues across application, integration, and data layers
  • Contribute to a stable and reliable production environment
  • Develop, review, and validate test cases to ensure high-quality releases with minimal production disruption
  • Maintain clear technical and operational documentation to support long-term maintainability, onboarding, and institutional knowledge retention

Benefits

  • Equal employment opportunity
  • Treatment regardless of race, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, or physical or mental disability
