About The Position

HII – Mission Technologies is seeking a Senior Anti-Tamper Engineer to support a highly classified program at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio. The role requires an active TS/SCI clearance, SAP experience, and a thorough understanding of the DoD systems engineering process and acquisition, manufacturing, fielding, sustainment, modernization, and disposal of weapon systems and capabilities. Specific experience in weapon-system Program Protection planning and microelectronics is required. Expertise in integrated circuitry, industry-standard processors, and memory chips, along with familiarity with electronic-system and integrated-circuit reverse-engineering methodologies, is highly desired. The engineer provides technical support for Program Protection planning and anti-tamper methodologies across requirements, acquisition, evaluation, testing, integration, and sustainment. The position also supports assessments and improvements to protect Critical Program Information (CPI) from exploitation and reverse engineering. Preferred responsibilities include systems engineering analysis and integration, lifecycle support, training, and the creation and maintenance of collateral and SAP Security Classification Guides (SCGs).

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI clearance.
  • At least three years of experience in an SAP environment within the last eight years.
  • Experience with Program Protection planning and implementation in weapon-system programs.
  • Experience evaluating fielded weapon systems for anti-tamper and reverse-engineering susceptibility based on vendor design.
  • Experience identifying susceptibility of critical protected information to exploitation and reverse engineering.
  • Experience identifying ways to improve electronic circuits’ resistance to reverse engineering and exploitation.
  • Experience supporting development of industry and DoD standards to improve weapon systems’ resistance to reverse-engineering exploitation.
  • Experience working with industry to assess weapon-system tamper resistance within the acquisition development cycle.
  • Experience in an electronic exploitation lab environment, using or being familiar with state-of-the-art exploitation equipment and instrumentation to assess processors, memory units, and electronic circuits, identify weaknesses and design improvements, and develop standards to deter technological exploitation.
  • Either a relevant MS/MA or higher and at least 10 years of experience, or a relevant BS/BA and at least 15 years of experience in an engineering position with DoD, another government agency, or a DoD contractor.
  • Thorough understanding of the DoD systems engineering process and policies and procedures across weapon-system acquisition, manufacturing, fielding, sustainment, modernization, and disposal.
  • Specific experience in weapon-system Program Protection planning and microelectronics.

Nice To Haves

  • Expertise in integrated circuitry, industry-standard processors, and memory chips.
  • Familiarity with methodologies for reverse engineering electronic systems and integrated circuitry.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering support for requirements identification, evaluation, testing, and integration, particularly for Program Protection planning and anti-tamper methodologies.
  • Support technology and product acquisitions, including long-term planning, request-for-proposal development, and technical oversight of ongoing projects.
  • Assess acquired capabilities against system design requirements and specifications.
  • Identify technologies and evaluate system and subsystem design functions and improvements to protect Critical Program Information (CPI).
  • Develop plans to assess security features of GOTS and COTS components for CPI susceptibility or vulnerability to exploitation and reverse engineering.
  • Work with DoD Anti-Tamper Evaluation Teams to understand current designs and identify vulnerabilities to foreign and adversary exploitation.
  • Support improvements to anti-tamper and anti-exploitation design, development, manufacturing, training, and sustainment for U.S. weapon systems.
  • Assist in translating user requirements into system requirements for the design, development, fabrication, testing, and evaluation of systems, subsystems, and equipment.
  • Assist with developing requirements and technology needs into action plans and policies; conduct technical and mission analyses; and assist in developing system concepts.
  • Perform technological and trade-off study assessments and develop and review the overall system design baseline, including architecture and interoperability requirements.
  • Review and analyze proposals, specifications, and interface control documents.
  • Support or conduct engineering performance, effectiveness, cost, lifecycle, producibility, maintainability, supportability, reliability, technical, and schedule risk assessments and trade-off studies.
  • Support or conduct systems analyses and support development and evaluation of Integrated Master Plans, Integrated Master Schedules, Systems Engineering Detail Schedules, and engineering cost estimates.
  • Participate in system, subsystem, and component testing and provide systems and subsystems integration support for acquisition, development, and verification.
  • Support weapon-system lifecycle activities.
  • Teach learning modules within anti-tamper courses for industry and government participants and assist with curriculum development, as required.
  • Lead technical writing and maintenance of multiple collateral and SAP Security Classification Guides (SCGs).
  • Coordinate and staff SCGs with DoD service and industry security, technical, financial, and contracting working groups; review and adjudicate feedback comments; and publish SCGs for the DoD anti-tamper community.
